With a rooted phone, you can download the app called Wireless Tether for Root Users, by Muller, Lemons, Buxton.

As far as I know it only makes your phone into a wifi access point and uses the data network for regular internet traffic directed to whatever is connected to it.

Alright bro i downloaded the app from the market and i got it to tether to my laptop now the problem was is when it tried to open a internet page it said "Per the Terms and Conditions of Service, Tethering / Mobile Hotspot is not currently supported.
Please visit www.metropcs.com/terms for terms and conditions of service." is there anyway to bypass this?

Theres a free app called foxfi its for non rooted users so that it bypasses the terms of contract b/s, it should work just fine for your purpose.

There have been a few threads here about Metro and tethering. I don't have the links, but if you search on it, you should be able to find 'em. Basically, if you are using Windows and IE, you will get blocked. I don't know about Windows and Firefox. If you use Mac and Safari you can get through, and Linux with Firefox will let you through also.

Must be that it's 'cause you're on Windows. I've not tried it with my Windows laptop, but have with my Linux laptop. I've also tethered with my (shh, whispered very quietly) iPod and it worked.

Tethering has nothing to do with the easy wifi app...
All easy wifi does is connect your phone to routers that have no passwords...

Not sure your completely true on this foxfi turns my phone (droid razr) into a mobile hotspot to where i can power my laptop using my 4g data speeds. Try it its free from app market, or google play. Have fun tether responsibly.

Edit: the easy wifi is an app i heard about not tried so idk its capibilities.

I'm not sure why you're getting that. I make sure I don't have any of the Cyanogen Mod or Android phone settings set to use Hotspot tethering of any sort (in other words, leave those settings on their defaults or change them back to defaults if you've gone and set them)

With Wireless Tether I just activate it and it goes. No ToS stuff appears on my end.

The only thing I could think of is that maybe MetroPCS has different methods of approving data connections around the country, probably depends on cell towers or area. Not sure. Either way, I'm not getting a ToS screen. I can browse on my computer as it were a regular connection, albeit slow.

Jaycee23 I am having the same problem with metro pcs not allowing me to use the web only get there TOS page. Do you know of any fix for this? Thanks

I use Barnacle Wifi Tether available in the Google Play for free. When I tether to my laptop I don't get the terms of service issue. It's definitely worth a try.
