Is the stock browser on the DNA essentially Chrome?

Coming from the Rezound, I preferred the HTC stock browser to Chrome; but the DNA stock looks a lot like Chrome, minus the branding. Does anyone know if it is a Chrome port or something?

Really? I have the DNA and I don't feel the stock browser looks anything like Chrome. The tab switching, and adding of tabs, bookmarking, settings, even the presence of an actual home page is different than Chrome. Very similar to (but better than) the old stock browser that came before Chrome though IMO.

This is my first HTC phone, and I have to say I am surprised at how much I love the stock browser. I always used Chrome, but this browser is faster, more responsive, well laid out with a nice UI, just great IMO ...

I still need to play with mine.
I too came from the Rezound and I swear the chrome looks kinda like the stock browser on this DNA. I am confused which one I have open. LOL! But who knows. Gotta play with it some more.

Wow weird.

I just opened my Chrome browser, saw the familiar layout of it and then it jumped over to the default browser on it's own.

I think it might be remembering the last http which was a redirect to youtube and the stock browser is probably the default.

Dang thing indeed is playing tricks on us.

And it probably varies by default settings etc.

Hmmm weird...

But the stock browser is a HTC Sense /stock browser, totally different from chrome.

You can just go to Settings>App Associations to make sure chrome is set as default

So which browser allows you to "pinch zoom"? I played with the stock browser on the SG3 and it stunk almost nothing was "zoomable" but it could have been a missed setting on the display model.

The DNA zoomed in on a lot more pages ('droid forums, my MR2 forums) but neither allowed me to zoom on the ESPN website. My Dinc allows me to do that...

Another reason I think the stock browser is Chrome (in every sense but name): all of my desktop bookmarks from Chrome are available on the phone.

I thought they were very similar, but i do not have much experience with chrome browser. One difference I noticed almost immediately was chrome did not reflow text like the stock browser, this may be in settings for chrome but I didn't see it. Imho this feature alone make the stock browser more appealing.

I like stock as well. Until Chrome gets a bookmark shortcut it is tough to use, especially on larger devices in my opinion.

Ok here's the deal.
Chrome and the stock are DIFFERENT browsers.
And as I suspected I did not set the preferences to make Chrome the default.
So when you are in Chrome and click on a link that wants to open say youtube in another tab, it opens in the DEFAULT browser.
So basically without expecting it you were on Chrome and then were in the stock one watching the video! LOL!

I went into settings and changed default browser to Chrome.
Then when I click on a link in chrome that requests a new tab it stays in Chrome.

I think that's what I was confused about. I don't have Chrome on the DNA but did have it on the Rezound. And Chrome on the Rezound (ICS) looks a lot like the DNA stock.

You were probably on the mobile version of espn in would think. You should be able to zoom fine when on full site

I'm really not sure how this could be. They looking almost nothing alike IMO ..
