Its like waiting on a refund check from the IRS. Its money you really didn't have to begin with but it sure would be nice to have now.

PS...I really think they are messing with us. It won't be tomorrow but I doubt it will be March 31 either.
 
This kind of thread reminds me way too much of car magazines and their perpetual series: "Is this car the next Corvette?", "Is this car the next Ferrari Enzo?", "Is this car the next (insert your favorite car here)?"

On one hand, it's way too funny. On the other, I have the feeling that some people have way too much time on their hands to worry about what is not really that important in the general scheme of things. Nice, yes, but nothing I lose a moment of sleep over.

Sounds like it's going into labor. Is the Android/OTA nearby? Quick, get a mini-USB cable, the port is dilating. Oh crap, red LED blinking. We're losing her. 15%. Stick it in. Stick it in!

Tell your Eris "congrats" on a successful update. Looks like it's an OTA. Enjoy it while you can, because it won't be long before 2.1 comes out and then it's really gonna be tough on your....bandwidth.

Yes, both updates have asked for permission before downloading.

If it is downloading shouldn't you have something in the notification panel?

I doubt it's the one that's due, technically, tomorrow. Pulling the battery might screw it up too. Is it just frozen there? Or is there some progress? I forget how the screen looks, does it not show a progress bar or something?

you definitely have a choice. but if you choose to download at another time it will continue to notify you of the update like every half hour. you eventually have to accept it. but it asks you before it does anything. so that you can make sure you have enough battery.
 
i had an issue with my phone trying to download over and over again the droid ringtone that someone here linked to. i went to the site through the phone's browser. for some technical reason it couldn't download it but kept trying until i cancelled the download. but i don't think i was able to do it through the notification panel. maybe something like that is happening to this person.

Still wasn't given a choice last ota.
 
Perhaps your off....by a lot. So when update three comes out and you're still on update one, refusing update two, it force-downloads two and then three you'll have the option four until four comes out. I dunno. That's just me. Might be hard now, but what version did you have before this update?
 
The sole reason I bought this phone is that it did not have a sliding keyboard and it was getting the 2.1 update. Rest assured if there is no update by the end of March, I will be getting a Nexus One. I hear Verizon will be selling the Nexus One on March 23rd.

You'll have an outdated phone then too. When the next Motorola phone comes (the successor to the Droid), it'll be a step ahead of the Nexus, the way the Nexus is ahead of the Eris. You'll be back in the same hole. Only this time you'll be paying both Google and VZW for ETFs when your Nexus pisses you off as well.
