Is Tomorrow the Day for Android 2.??

5k lol..Whats your time goal?
59 minutes since they only allow an hour, lol.

Some background info: I weighed 243lbs (I'm 6') in June. I've lost 30+ since then. I used to lift a lot but now that I'm older (38) I concentrate more on cardio so the goal I set for myself was to do this 5k that's part of the Myrtle Beach Marathon. If I had to put a time on it, I'd say 30 minutes. This is the first running event I've done in about 15 years so I'm not looking to set records, lol.

What is still echoing in my mind is the fact that when the Nexus One comes to Verizon, which I think it does sometime in May, it'll be the same as the Eris and the Droid, as far as software, and just have a better processor. Someone made that point. At best, won't 2.1 come out for Droid and Eris the day N1 comes out to prevent them from eating into N1 sales? Otherwise, why would you buy an $XXX N1, when the Eris could possibly be free or $50 at the most by then, and the Droid, maybe, $100-$150?

I think you're making a good point there. It reminds me of when the Bold came out, or was anticipated to coming out soon, as those of us with Curves and earlier Blackberries watched and waited for updates to our phones.

Then it happened again with the Tour.

The forums here resemble the Blackberry forums very much as they were in those days not so long ago. ;)

I cant wait for the update, whatever/whenever it may be, but yes, smacky, you have a point there. I will probably end up getting the N1 anyways because my update is in June and the N1 has 1) a higher res screen like the Droid and 2) the trackball like the Eris. that darn trackball comes in quite handy, perhaps just because i was so used to in my Curve......I played around with a friends Droid yesterday trying to help him get some apps setup and realized, man I really dig the trackball on my Eris. LOL :D

Did you guys pay full price for your Eris? How are you guys planning on buying the N1 without a renewal of your contract?

When I see somebody in here talking about wanting a Nexus One I find myself wanting to steer them away from getting one because of my bad experience with it (that experience is what brought me to the Eris).

But, I do think there are satisfied N1 users out there, there has to be. Plus, maybe they've had a software upgrade correct the problems.

But still, for those that bought their Eris in November, how will they upgrade in May?

Well, there will be those who are willing to take a dollar hit to get what they want. That Nexus One is a sexy little creature, and fast, and clear, and other things that capture the imagination.

The Eris has enough of those qualities for me, but again, some will pay extra to have what they want.

The Eris is 300..400 bucks. The Nexus is even higher. People spend a grand between two phones in a span of six months?

Also, called the VZW store today to find out about the updates. Posed as a clueless moron and that all I had heard was an update was supposed to come OTA on the 22nd and I still haven't got it.

The person said that it would sent out sequentially and that it would come out this week. I then asked if she knew what it was since I had heard it may be an upgrade from 1.5 to a 2.1 or 2.0. I made sure they knew it was an Eris not a Droid, even though the Droid never had 1.5. She then asked if I got the 1.6 update. I asked if she meant the 1.5 our phone came with and she said 1.6 had been released. I asked her where to get it from and she asked someone else in the store if the Eris had 1.6 or not. It kinda crushed me she had answered the phone. Then she said she'd look into it, but she new a software update was coming. Update....upgrade..a possible difference? I dunno.

So waiting on a call back and hopefully she'll spill the beans and tell me 3.0 comes out tomorrow and I hang up and just call another store. :(

Present company excepted, of course ... but I've yet to find a VZW store employee who wasn't utterly clueless.

You have to cut them a little slack. Android is brand new to them and totally foreign. Most of them have had time to get used to blackberry and winmo devices. Until the droid line nobody but t-mobile had Android. They are still learning and it probably won't be until the second generation droids that they start to get it. Remember that many of them are coming here to learn, so it can be a lot like the blind leading the blind. The guy that helped me with my phone even told me I had to install ATK or my phone wouldn't run. They will learn.

I walked into one of the local stores the other day and the owner said, "Thank God you came by. We have these knew phones and I have a ton of questions."
