ITT: Post your Captivate's battery life

How does everyone have such long battery life?
my phone died today at school.
I had it full charge over night, lasted 2 hours or so.
All I did was play some games (not alot though), text, used the browser, and check emails.
I have wifi on, screen brightness set to auto.
What shock me the most was that my phone display was using 98% of the battery. That's definitely not normal...

I did the battery recalibrating and implemented a few other steps. It seems to have had a really good impact on the battery life so far.

we'll see at the end of the end. Yesterday, it died at 3.30, didn't even last the whole day when I did nothing with it.

My battery with 29% left:
1d 5h 20m 55s
Cell standby: 44%
Phone Idle:20%
Display: 15%
The Weather Channel(widget): 8%
Voice Calls: 6%
Android system: 3%
Wi-Fi: 3%
Android OS: 2%
This with medium usage, left it on at night and had it on (but didn't use it), all yesterday at school. Some of the draining was due to AndChat, an IRC client that sucks battery down fast.

This is probably one of the most useful threads on all of the interwebs ( XDA, samsungcaptivateforum.com, this site)

As we can see everyone has a huge variance of daily life of battery s.

I will post my stats soon as I just flashed a rom yesterday but currently im around 40% with 1.1 days of use. using the newest version of ultimate rom.

I heard a rumour some where on one of these forums that some of us have different quality of battery's in our captivates. is that true? and how do we tell?

There's been threads ad nauseum on this topic..I see real good idle usage: maybe 3% overnight while idle; but in actual use: 20-25 minutes of browsing the internet (forums, espn, cnn, etc) on wifi, I see 8-10% drain. Can others corroborate that usage? Browsing on wifi seems to me to be the biggest actual use battery drain there is. Even streaming Pandora isn't even close (screen off of course)

I just noticed after upgrading to 2.2, my phone doesn't stay fully charged long. I get the message saying my battery is full. However, when I unplug the charger, about 10 secs later it already goes to 99%. Anyone else experiencing this?

Mine is similar. Last night I used the browser for about an hour (on wifi), and checked the battery status before and after. It dropped by 19 %pts over the hour. Did the same again this morning, and it dropped by 22 %pts. That seems to be about typical now-- 20ish %pts/hr, just browsing. I'm pretty sure it did a lot better than that under 2.1, but I don't feel like flashing back to verify now.

And mine also loses very little when sleeping at this point.

Wow, after reading these posts, I am puzzled. The max my battery ever lasts is maybe 10 hours. I don't use anything very much, mostly because the phone spends so much time on the charger, I miss calls and don't have it handy to use. I will post stats later. Right now, it's on the charger...

I'm at 1% and it's been 15h 34 min since its been charged.

Display: 69%
Wifi: 16%
Standby: 10%
Phone Idle: 4%

I run Captivate Keep Alive to keep my phone from randomly shutting down but MAN does it kill my battery life...
It spends a lot of time not being used which is confusing.

Captivate Froyo 2.2

5d 3h 41m 25s since unplugged
*** Battery level 33% ***

Call standby 35%
Voice calls 25%
Display 21%
Phone Idle 17%

if someone needs my settings to reach that very good result, don't hesitate to contact me !!!

9h 7m 33s
display 57%
Standby 25%
Voice calls 12%
Idle 6%

Remaining 77%

Way better then my Iphone. Id already be dead, and charged again, half way dead again. No complaints about getting 2 days out of this battery!

ok, it is actually 6 full days, even more :)
you saw that the battery level was 33%

I rooted my phone in case to use the titanium backup. I used the titanium_backup to remove the nonremovable AT&T applications, since I'm in Bulgaria and I don't need any AT&T features. But it is not the important thing. I installed the "CPU Tuner" and modified all of the profiles available in that good software.
!!!! NEVER USE "Extreme power save" !!!
Otherwise the phone will stop and the only way is to replug the battery, I think it is a bug in the CPU-Tuner software.
1. Uncheck the "Power saving mode" from the main options of the phone
2. Uncheck the Sync from the phone options
3. type *#2263# and select GSM ... option 3
4. select GSM all
5. type *#0011# to check if the GSM net is in use
p.p. you have to do that (3,4,5) after each reboot ... the phone doesn't remember that. It is not a problem, because I don't see a reason to reboot the phone often, so if you use it normally this network option is active till restart of the phone or replug the battery
6. Keep WiFi and GPS off
7. remove any animated wallpaper and use a black static wallpaper (it sounds strange, but it is AMOLED display)
I didn't find differences with BT OFF and ON, seems the BT drains very small current from the battery ...

till now, ok ...
let me tell you my settings of the CPU-Tuner ...
5 triggers:
1. Battery full - 100%, Performance, Screen Off, Performance, Performance
2. Battery used - 80%, Performance, Screen Off, Performance, Performance
3. Battery halfl - 60%, Good, Screen Off, Performance, Good
4. Battery lowl - 40%, Normal, Screen Off, Performance, Normal
5. Battery critical - 25%, Powersave, Screen Off, Performance, Normal

Profiles:
Performance: Full Speed, 100-1000 MHz, all unchanged
Good: Full Speed, 100-1000 MHz, all unchanged
Normal: Normal, 100-1000 MHz, all unchanged
Screen Off: Save Battery, 100-1000mHz, MD and WIFI are off. all others are unchanged
Powersave: Save Battery, 100-1000MHz, all unchanged
Extreme powersave ... never mind, since we don't use it

Also ... I have installed Android assistant, and Advanced task killer. After reboot the phone and after voice call I start once the Advanced task killer and kill all processes .... I'm not sure it makes the battery life longer. ... will test next week without this action after every voice call.
p.p. I use Loader (ginger one) ... downloaded from the market.

also ... I found something strange ... if I unplug the charger from the phone when it "decided" that the battery is 100% charged ... sometimes it deads. I tried some methods, but they eats the battery. My experience shown me that if I leave the power(charger) plugged even it said it is charged - all is ok, the battery is really 100% and the phone DOESN'T DIE RANDOMLY !!!
Actually ... last month I attach the phone to the charger evening time and unplug the charged in the morning and ... all is OK. I do that every 5-6 days :) ;) ;)

Let me share that I tried to overclock the CPU to 1.3 GHz ... all was fine.
My phone also is lag-fixed ... if it is important ... I'm not sure, think no ...

Please, let me know if the info I posted here is good for you guys!
Thanks in advance !
Jethro

p.p. Is there someone which already has made its Cappy to work with gingerbread 2.3.x ?
if yes, please tell me how (step by step) and give me the URLs to download the needed things.
A lot of thanks in advance !!!
:)
