Root JB Update 2.06.653.6

m_c_ael

Newbie
Just got a push for a new update. 15.5 mb. Not finding anything about it online. Saved to my sd card and I will upload upon request ! It says "software improvements"
edit: I'm not installing this update. Don't wanna risk losing root.

Any input community?

Probably a good idea to wait. I can confirm that there's an OTA available as I just checked

I've already updated, I personally have not found any huge differences really. I'll post again tomorrow after I've done some deep digging

Update: everything is still fine root is good still have s-off no funny glitches performance is still very satisfactory. All in all this is not an update that you need to be afraid of. All it real did was give me a new AAinfo.txt with an updated build.number

Be careful with the new updates they are pushing. The latest update for my S3 had a lot of new security additions to help block attaining recovery and root.

A RECOVERY FIX had to be made for the guys who took the update. They were not able to access any files to flash while in recovery.

Just a heads up fellas. Those of you who've been around awhile know not to accept any of the updates. For the newcomers, one of these new updates might shut you out from attaining root until one of the Devs can get it figured out. Be careful!

Yeah I will be keeping an eye here for news on the update. Phone asked to update it the other day but I didnt for now. Waiting for proper info from the devs around here

It's all good guys. I've been running the update since yesterday.

Just installed the update. Almost ready for release to you guys. (as a stock rom (fully working this time LOL)) I just need either the build.prop from the first JB update or the build.prop from this OTA if youve already installed it.

Thanks guys

For some reason build.prop didn't update. I'll have a friend flash it on their phone. Or someone soff already who has the time flash it please. The new build prop will allow us to get the notification for 4.2 when it releases. Thanks. Okay so it's uploading. Its from twrp so if you want to flash, use twrp. There's no md5 or anything so it's just throw it in your backups folder inside a respective folder and go. Also devs feel free to use this to base a new rom on. I'll do something with it eventually. Its honestly a little smoother and more stable even... Ill probably do a deodex and cleaned up base this weekend for everyone. Give it 2 hours before downloading

CWM can not install the update for me go figure. Oh well not a big deal I can wait for a proper CM rom or something tho. Need a proper Bluetooth stack and not the one built around sense since they broke a number of things with that setup.

It's a twrp backup like it says in the post...

In that case, I got a status 7 trying to install via CWM

Due to the way htc creates these updates it won't flash stock in cwm. I always have to mod mine. I just need the new build prop. For some reason I can't get it to update the patch.. Basically though this update seems a little more stable

I can pull it from the zip and post it

EDIT: Here ya go!

EDIT: That file originally ended in .p and so it apparently wasn't meant to be opened in a text editor

Just saw the nag of it today while I was at work. I wonder if this phone will be as nagging/pushy to install the update like my S2 was...

Wouldn't the Voodoo OTA RootKeeper help in this situation? Seems like that's what it's made for.

@simonsimons34 I pm you a link to build.prop. sorry if I am late, I was watching this thread but could not understand what was being asked.

Has anyone tried to protect their root via Voodoo OTA rootkeeper and restore it with this? I know the last time I used it on a phone that rather peskily forced an OTA update, what I did was temporarily un-root, do the update, then restore root with the app and that worked on there.

I know there is a disclaimer about the app not working on Android 4.3... what does this new Update put the One SV at?
