Jelly Bean for Att... when?

Upgraded to JB last night via Kies. Kies required it's usually upgrade first before it would start the upgrade. Was a very slow process - took about 1-1/2 hrs from start to finish. The phone appears to be working fine this morning. Haven't noticed any huge differences so far, however. What should I look for in JB?

Google now, better speech to text, low light camera options, faster app launch speeds, re-sizing picture in picture (If you use it), and some other stuff, blocking mode (DnD)... Think there is some more but that is it for now?

No because I can't install Kies in my computer... I have an iMac with Mac OS X 10.8. Not compatible.. :(

I would honestly wait for over the air then. I'll check XDA to see if anyone has an easier way though.

Side note Folders are different and more intuitive to make now!

I did get mine to work this later this morning. Basically, I had to just walk away and let it sit there for a good long while, but when I came back it was about halfway through actually applying the update.

I upgraded my phone through Kies. It is a AT&T phone that has been unlocked. I use it on Straight Talk.
As far as i am aware, there is no OTA update going to be available? I used Kies and all went very quickly. Also, Kies gives you the option to fix your phone should something go wrong. That way you do not end up with a soft bricked phone.
I am now on the 4.1.1 software and in my opinion at least, i am a bit under whelmed .....lol.

OK... need help here.

I download the Jelly Bean zip file to my computer and copy it to the micro sd card in the S3... Turned off and turn on pressing the up volume key, the home key and the power key at the same time. I get a menu where I select update from external storage card. The phone starts to do something and then I get this error

E:signature verification fail

how can I fix this?

Did you unzip the file you downloaded?

Why do you feel under whelmed

I'm downloading the firmware for upgrade right now, it's been sitting at 17% for about 30 mins now...is that normal?

I waited for what seems like a long time and i have yet to find many highlights that Jelly Bean has over Ice Cream?

I tried Google Now and it indeed is better than the competition but not much else?

What did you expect?...its an incremental release...from 4.0 to 4.1

Yeah. It's incremental but I really like Google Now. I had mine all skinned-up and working nice. Now it's still skinned up and looking nice but has Google Now. Few other things but nothing earth-shattering.

At this point, my plan is to stay on ICS as everything works just fine for what I use the phone for, including integration with my Mac and the ibolt dock. My gut feel is the upgrade is more likely to break more things than add any real benefit to me.

Is there any downside for staying put? I know there has been largely a feeding frenzy to get it and maybe I am missing something.

I know, right? I asked my newly updated 4.1 S3 to make me a burger with fries, and it gave me a burger with mashed potatoes...POS phone. :eating:

Finally got the phone to connect to Kies... Running on Jelly Bean right now. It really is faster. Nice!!!!

A question.. is it ok to do the upgrade like that or is it better to do a clean install of the Jelly Bean. If so... how can you do a clean install

Question... I updated my phone with JB today via Kies. If I factory reset my phone in the future... will it go back to ICS?

Not unless you've done something very wrong or you reset by using flashing ICS with odin. A factory reset just restores the OS to its default state and doesn't delete the image and reinstall it or anything.

had my gs3 on jellybean. had to factory restart because i just had way to much shit on my phone and needed a fresh start. the jellybean did not remove.

This is wierd... one of my friends has a Galaxy S3 with Sprint and he told me that his Jelly Bean version is 4.1.2. I update mine my S3 from ATT and is version 4.1.1. Why Sprint has a newer version?
