Help Jelly Bean update - Dummies Guide

Does anyone know what changes xeu 4.1.2 lsw brings to jellybean? I have just updated from i think it was lss to lsw and i cannot see any difference or is it cos im not looking hard enough?

So far everything is okay after update to JB no issues with battery drain,have disabled apps i don't need.Only thing i have noticed there is no short cut for task manager on my app screen unlike ICS.I have had to activate JB task manager widget on my home screen to access it.

I would be interested to know this. I reckon mine seems a little sluggish compared to before the LSW update.

Hi sorry if i am posting a question that has been answered allready or if its been posted in the wrong hread, as this is my first time posting!

My question is... I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 I9100 on ICS 4.0.4. It has never beem rooted or flashed before, so I would like to update it to Jelly Bean stock firmware via Odin, however as the phone is locked toT Mobile UK and all the Odin jelly been tutorials state that the phone must be factory unlocked before updating the firmware. So as you can see i am stuck here so can someone please tell me if i can still update the phone via stock firmware even though it is carrier locked?????

Hello and welcome to Android Forums zain67! :)

As per #1.7 of post #1, you can flash any firmware you like for your model of phone via Odin, either locked or unlocked. For UK, I would suggest unbranded XEU firmware LSW, which is the latest, as T-Mobile UK and Orange UK have not released their Jelly Bean at this time.

You may be confusing flashing firmware with rooting via Odin... neither of which will unlock your phone. However, if you do also, root your phone, there are a number of app's in Play Store that claim to unlock your handset. Alternatively, in the UK, most operators will either give you an unlock code or will charge a small fee. Vodafone UK do not, for instance, even lock their phones anymore.

Hello and welcome to Android Forums JitenRaja! :)

Yes, you can flash the XWLSW firmware by following the step-by-step instructions and video in #1.7, as they are both GT-i9100 firmware, albeit that one has a South American modem and the other has a European one.

Hi mate,

Sorry to be absolute pain but I'm confused which firmware I need to download!

I'm on Tmobile (EE) and they haven't released anything yet, nothing through Kies etc..

My info is:

CSC: I9100TMUKE3

Searching on Sammobile is confusing!... please could you link me to a JellyBean update I will be able to flash with Odin?

I'm still on Andriod 2.3.3 GINGERBREAD_MR1 if that makes a difference!

Thanks!

Hello and welcome to Android Forums Arsl88! :)

Are you following the instructions and video contained in the link in #1.7 to flash your phone?

Have you extracted the .tar file from the SamMobile .zip file?

"Once it's done, extract the ZIP file on your computer."

i have followed the very same procedure..but Odin gives that error as mentioned previously..i want to know that or may be the file which i downloaded is not for XXLPW..

Thanks for your prompt reply..kindly guide or send me any link from where the JB can be downloaded??the file which i downloaded has an extension of .tar.Md5. also there is a .dll file extracted with this .tar.md5 file.

As per post #2, there has been no Jelly Bean, Android 4.1.2, update for CSC code OJP so far I am afraid.

Which stock firmware have you downloaded and trying to install?

this is the complete name of the extracted file. I9100XWLSN_I9100XXMS2_I9100OXXLS8_HOME.tar.md5

also there is SS_DL.dll file with it extracted separately..looking forward to your reply..

and you are quite rite about OJP..couldn't find the same on Sammobile too.but if any variation can be installed then kindly let me know..

and you are quite rite about OJP..couldn't find the same on Sammobile too.but if any variation can be installed then kindly let me know..

That depends on which language pack you need...

OJP = ar,en,fr(fa,ur)

The next nearest is...

OJV = en,fr,pt,tr(ar,de,es,fa,it,nl)

See #1.1 for link to language pack codes.

still getting the same error..it gets stuck on Leave CS..then i tried to start the update but it displayed

<ID:0/004> Can't open the specified file. (Line: 1949)

any advice??
