jelly bean update

Yea that's what I did.. they actually released a new version. It's great.. Just Google swype beta and sign up.
It will have you download the swype installer and bam your done.. New Swype has themes and more features.

Samsung may have approved it. But in the end it's the carriers that have to give updates to us. And that could take awhile or never happen

From a lot of what I read its now all on Samsung and not the carriers. They say they want new standards for all their phones, same going for Google with the new Nexus program. They also said they will release updates no matter what, because they are tired of carriers taking forever lol.Samsung just released a update to all S2 phones and it came out at the same time on all carriers, thanks to Kais air or whatever it is called, but reading a lot on the new android operating system updates will release according to phone manufacture and not carriers.

I have gotten updates via WiFi with cellular turned off. I am sure the manufacturer can push updates out to people that own their products without waiting for the cellular companies to get their butts in gear.

Depends on what JB rom you want to use.

Newest/latest rom out thus far for this phone....FK23 rom (no custom recovery as of yet though):
[JB][ODIN][TAR]SPH-D710 FK23 (FK23 Modem/Kernel/ROM - Root/Stock)

Other than that there are so many roms out there. I would suggest going to YouTube, and searching for JB roms, and how to install them.
QBKing77 has a bunch of videos out that are VERY informative, he also links you to the files in the descriptions, so it's VERY simple and easy to follow that way.

That's LilBit!! And I may be on my way over too:D
In your area (don't you live in nyc area?)you are probably going to love this phone. It is a very superior phone to the warp.

Boosts service plummeted in my area since october though. Not sure what happened, but it started with my warp and I thought it was ruined so I spent money I didn't have to upgrade to this.

When the service works it's just an incredible phone.

I'm in Ohio now.:( But most of the time we have very good service.

I hope to have the phone right after the first of the year:D

Kinda surprised at the fact that:

1: cm team still does not have a cm for this phone (Epic 4g touch SPH-D710). It looks as if they have all the others, but not this one.

2: They haven't picked up this phone yet still, even with the new FK23 out.

I'd think with what seems like so many more people jumping on the Epic 4g touch bandwagon again since pre-paid picked up this phone, Cm team would have jumped all over this phone, especially with the new leaked FK23 out. Yeah it's over a yr old, but they seem to update even older phone out quite often with nighties, so does this phone have the plague or what??
I'm in no way a programmer, so I don't know how hard it is really to do all the rom stuff, but I can't see it as being all that hard......can't you just take the kernel+modem and whatever else is needed from the new release, and replace it in the rom, and re-release the rom?
As I said I'm nowhere NEAR the programmer type, so I don't have any ideas, but I'd think it wasn't to hard.

I have made the Jump to Jelly Bean FK23 rooted. Made the quick adjustment for the mms server url, and am quite happily playing with it and re-downloading my apps. So far very nice. :)

another converted FK23 happy customer :).

yeah it's pretty sweet.

If you get a chance you might try the universe fk23 based rom as well, it has some more toggles and runs just as smooth.

I posted in another spot about them coming out with some added features as well, their doing extended reboot menu, and more to the extended toggles, so you can pick and choose what toggles you want to have shown.
They are saying this weekend, so keep a lookout.

I am happy with FK23, but have one sticking point which is lack of support for adobe flash. I can install it from my backup just fine and do its settings from the stock browser, but dolphin browser recognizes I'm on Jelly Bean and won't enable flash support. That is a little annoying as i used it with the agent set to desktop and could watch any youtube video (quite a few of them won't play on the mobile version of the sight).
