I want to update my boost mobile s2 to jelly bean and wanted to know how? I am new to this do i use ODIN to do this? I didnt want to mess the phone up so i need to make sure i do it right. If you can tell me what to do i would greatly appreciate it :)

first welcome to the forums. a simple proceedure would be to download framaroot from xda dev. install and run it your rooted go to the one stop shop of this forum and the one with it those stickies have a wealth of knowledge for you

Ok i see how to root but the roms are confusing why are there so many? cant i just get the stock JB version or do i have to have these custom ones? If so which is the most like JB and stable? if u can help me out id love it :):D

You should try kobridges stock jb rom. Make sure to download the gb08 version. Flash the gb08 modem then the rom. Let me know if you have questions:) and welcome. Check out the one stop shop thread here. Lots of people can help you out here as well.

Yes that is the correct modem and rom. But you don't use superuser to flash the modem or Rom. You use your recovery. Use Odin to flash the gb08 repack kernel and then in recovery flash the rom. Make sure to flash the modem first, then the rom. And make sure afterwards you flash the gb08 STOCK kernel. Don't stay on the repack kernel.

i think i got it my only question is flashing things so i use odin to first flash my modem then the rom then the kernel ?

last question i promise when i go into odin it wants certian file extensions mine is Kobridge's_Stock_ROM_vGB08DS.0.zip

odin wants a pda file .tar .md5 ect....

any ideas?

selfelvated i think i will use kobridges rom becuase i really want to stay on boost just incase u know i dont wanna chance it in the future... question i can do this but i still dont undersstand why odins app on my pc cant find zips.... looks like i always need to choose pda but it wants a md5 file not a zip and in the zip extracted their isnt one. Any Ideas?

i see the tar file for the sprint one that u sent is that any different? i dont want it to mess up my boost account... talk to me :)

Quick question.........What's the process for flashing this via odin if I'm currently on an asop rom? vanilla rootbox.

Odin wants a kernel package, whereas you've got a firmware one. :)

As stated in post #7, Odin is used to replace the kernel, then the ROM is flashed from recovery.

Odin only flashes tar files...recovery flashes zips.. If u do the one click it installs everything for u.. U dont need the modem
