Root Jelly Bean

I'd be really surprised if we do. LG isn't known for updating to newer versions of android

Yea it does, and yea it would...

My girl just got the S3 and I'm like welcome to ics, about 10 mins later it gave the go ahead to update to 4.2, then I'm like tell me about jb lol...sigh... lmfao!

JB isn't all that different from ICS truthfully, i think the only real dif is Google now, I don't even use it on my tablet

The Spirit already feels like Jelly Bean to me. It's already super fast and smooth. I've added Google Now to it and also themed it out with Apex Launcher for the stock look. It's pretty much a Nexus 4 now. :D

how did you get google now on it?

From the link that GameTheory provided. I did it for my Motion, too, before I got the Spirit.

oh ok I've look at that before, never tried it. how well does it work? does it have the online voice features?

It works well for me. I don't use the actual Google Now feature where it tracks your location and gives you information updates. I think that's creepy in a Big Brother kind of way.

I mainly use it for the online voice features, which works really well. You ask your question or search and it'll provide your answer verbally and/or bring up web searches for you.

Questions like "What is the capital of California?" will give you a voice response saying "The capital of California is Sacramento," and also provide you with web searches of the answer. Questions like locations of places (i.e., "Please find Target stores in Huntington Beach, California) will bring up web searches and a map pinpointing the locations of whatever you're looking for in the area.

And if you're offline (data/WiFi turned off), you can use it to make calls by saying "Call John Smith." I know I don't use it to the fullest extent it was designed for, but I still find it good for what I do use it for.

I haven't encountered any of the bugs people have mentioned. For example, my back button works with it and allows me to exit out of it without freezing up.

what one from that thread did you use?

GT correct me if i am wrong. But isn't "inverted_M7_Offline.zip" for ARMv7 devices? And since our Spirit are ARMv6 devices, im not sure it will work?

The LG Spirit is an ARMv7 device.
Here is a pic from the Antutu benchmark with the device info.

So has anyone heard of any progress and/or new info surfacing on the possibility of upgrading the Spirit to Jellybean anywhere else? Just curiously optimistic :)
