I'd like to try Jedi Mind Trick, but this will only be my second time flashing a custom rom. I currently have ICS Darkside Evolution 3 v8. Will there be any issues going from Darkside to Jedi Mind Trick? In the directions, it says "Fix Permissions - (USE DARKSIDE CACHE SCRIPT IF STILL ON CWM RECOVERY)". What exactly does that mean?

No, there won't be an issue, but, when you go to a different rom, you need to do a full wipe in recovery.

Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Under advanced, wipe dalvik cache
Under mounts/storage, wipe system

Flash your new rom. After that you can flash Darkside Cache Wipe. It just wipes the caches and fixes file permissions. I really don't use it that much unless I'm having some kind of problem.

I would recommended downloading GooManager from the market and let it install TWRP recovery. Its a touch screen recovery that works great. I don't use CWM anymore. If you want to try it, open GooManager and select Flash ROMs. It will say you don't have a compatible recovery or something similar. Tell it to find one for you and install it. It will install TWRP.

TDJ made Darkside Cache Wipe and Darkside Super Wipe because older Clockworkmod recoveries didn't do a great job of wiping. TWRP doesn't have that problem.

I'll try it this weekend when I have more time. Hopefully mobile hotspot still works on JMT. If not, I'd rather stick with Darkside.
 
I am sad to report that with the 8/19 build I am having big probs - my phone SOD 3 times in a row - after that it went into a crazy boot loop. I managed to get it into recovery and delete everything and restore my gingerbread backup. I think for a couple days it will be GB and after I get back home I may try this again - I dont understand why it is doing that - I like the rom but apparently my phone is freaking out and does not want to be a workin.

Anyone having similar problems?

I'm running Jedi Mind Trick now and everything seems to work except one thing. The home screen wallpaper function does this weird zoom if you try to use your own wallpaper. I tried setting it from the gallery and it still does the same weird zoom. Is there a setting that can fix this? If not, I'm going back to the Darkside. I like this faster rom, but the wallpaper issue is a deal breaker if its not fixed.

I'm not sure. I didn't even try changing wallpaper. Try downloading QuickPic from the market and use that. See if it makes any difference.

Got it to work finally. Used QuickPic and it gives you a few options. The one to set as "Home screen wallpaper" doesn't work & still does the odd zoom in, but there is another option to just set as "Wallpaper" that does work. Odd, but I'm happy with it. Thanks for the suggestion.

Working great so far. The paid Camera Zoom FX ap that hasn't worked on previous builds is now working, BUT, paid Swiftkey 3 isn't working. Every time I try to enable it I get a message "unfortunately settings has stopped."

I'm gonna go ahead and try it for a day or two to see if the SOD's have been fixed but I'm not sure I can live without my Swiftkey.
 
Seems there are a lot of very good sentiments from the community on the newest build. Supposedly no SODs - and things are running as they should. I do not know about swift 3 key - I hope that one is fixed as well because for me it is a deal breaker but I think it is time to give the butter another chance.

I have to tell you "I cannot believe its not butter" is not actually butter and I secretly know it is not and just swallow it down with sadness!!!!!!!!
 
Hi guys, sorry for the delay but life in general got hectic for a few weeks. I’m finally able to come back here and I noticed a few upgrades have been posted regarding CM10. How stable is the newest rom? I used one dated 8-16-12 and it would reboot on its own at times lol. I’ve gone back to android 2.3.6.

I read through a lot of the thread and in the latest update people are reporting no signal (meaning the radio is not working). I also saw the report of a disaster where a guy used the hold function to place his GF on hold while making plans with his friends and than lied to her. Well needless to say the hold function did not work and she heard everything!!! I call that a fail which may not be real but a fail none the less :)
 
Might sound silly since I learned so much here. But I've tried and older version of CM10 (I think it was dated 8-16-12) which did reboot my phone many times. If I do try the newest version, how do I go about syncing my google account as I don't remember seeing an option for "accounts and sync" on the older version.

I haven't run this one in about a week and I can't remember. I'm getting ready to flash the new build.

Are you doing a full wipe before flashing? If you're using CWM flash Darkside Super Wipe and after flashing the room flash Darkside Cache Wipe. Don't forget to flash Gapps 20120726 for Jellybean.

If you're using TWRP just factory rest, wipe system and both caches. I've run into bugs with Jellybean but I haven't had any problems booting.
