why so sad? i would totally appreciate that. its hard to sleep in 80 degree weather without a fan. even then it is very uncomfortable. i might have to ditch my memory foam mattress and go for something more traditional or at least something cooler.

I love hot weather. I was very happy when I left Seattle to move to Dallas... Family situation brought me back though and I miss the really hot summers.

Hopefully things have improved in much of L.A. since I was a kid. When I was living in the San Fernando valley there were hardly any homes that actually had air conditioners! On the occasions it got really hot, we simply piled into the first available car and headed over to Will Rogers beach until the weather cooled down... :D

yeah now everyone here has pools. thank god i do not live in the valley. it gets super hot there. not to mention those crazy santa ana winds. they get the worst there in the valley.

we all have a/c's now, but it is to damn expensive to run these days.

i'm weird. i hate really hot days and i hate really cold days. i also hate humidity. if it could always be 78 degrees year round, i would be a happy man:D

If we had those temps in the UK I think it would kill off half the population... 77 is about as hot as it gets here (in the north east) and that was enough to have me dying at work :D

2pm Pacific, Weather Channel says 99 degrees. We're still two or three hours away from the hottest part of the day. Sorry, but when I'm working on unpacking and shifting a lot of stuff around, the AC stays at 75. 78 (recommended by the power grid people) *might* *possibly* be tolerable if I weren't doing anything, but if I'm doing more than sitting on the couch, I tend to feel a bit ill when indoor temps are that high. My husband works in a warehouse and thinks I'm a bit of a temperature wimp. He's right. :)

When I lived in Texas and it was 100+ degrees everyday in the summer I always kept my AC set at 72. The AC is there for 1 reason... comfort.

I do drop it to closer to 70 at night (which shouldn't be too awful power-wise), so I can actually get some useful sleep. 75 is acceptable to me during the day, and I do understand that the power grid is getting hit pretty hard with a heat wave going on. I don't plan to cook, do laundry, or run the dishwasher until after peak demand hours today, and am trying to keep other power use down. I think I can justify running a little cooler than the power-conservation people might prefer. ;)

so after reading some of your comments, i'm curious as what you guys like weather wise so i added a poll to this thread. please feel free to vote.

68 year round except for the fall, where I'll allow the temperature to drop. I have lots of nice sweaters and a few smoking jackets and it is too hot to wear them in the summer. I love walking in the leaves when the weather is brisk.

Around December 15th, I want snow and cold nights.

I voted 100+ just because I miss it so much. I love hot weather as long as I have AC to go into.

My ideal weather is San Diego though, I just don't have the finances to live there... Yet

weirdo:D

i actually prefer santa barbara. i lived there for almost 10yrs and they have the best weather there. and the finances finally caught up with me so i had to move back down to LA. i grew up in LA, but i have outgrown getting used to the heat. i have been back in LA for almost 2 yrs and i still not have gotten used to this crappy heat:(

Never been to Santa Barbara, I have been to San Diego many times while I was in the Navy though.

I have lived in Seattle for almost 7 years total, and I'll never get used to the dreary, cold, rainy weather 10 months a year with only a mild summer.

San Francisco for me - or at least the bay area heading out to Dublin & Pleasanton. Used to live in Dublin and loved every second...

The one time I went to San Francisco it was cold and rainy, I felt like I never left Seattle. Not a good first impression :(

Blech, hate summer, can't stand being hot. Fall is the best season.

Voted "70 and below" in the poll - if I could keep it 68-70 and raining all year, I would love it.
