Just too expensive!

Expansys more often than not always seem to be more expensive than any of its competitors. Still, the price could go up or down by the time it is released.

I personally would not pay more than
 
For now but wait till iPhone 5 is at the centre of the news and watch the price of the Galaxy S2 drop unless it sells really well.

The Galaxy S was like what 4 million units behind iPhone 4?

If you are from outside europe like me (US). Looks like you pay less around 568 euros or $770. That is with shipping. Not to bad to me. Only expensive for those that have to pay vats what ever that is. Oh btw this is my first post. HELLO forum.

There is always the chance you maybe clobbered for quite a high import duty by customs, which could put the price to around $1000 USD. Especially if the shipper writes something like 'New Samsung Galaxy S2 cellphone' on the customs declaration form. To avoid this, it's best to write 'Gift' or 'Sample' on the customs form.
 
I just noticed that on expansys's page it says Galaxy S2 will have 512 MB RAM and CPU: Samsung 4210 Exynos @ 1.2Ghz (Dual Core).

Any idea what's that about? Expansys keep changing release date but is outdated on specs? 512MB will make me closer to LG Optimus 2X since i won't have to wait or pay that much.
 
My experience when trying to buy my vibrant was that the unlocked international versions were $600-$800 on eBay and the vibrant itself sold for maybe only $450 and dropped in price to under $400 quickly. Phones sold in the states are much cheaper and then the ones off ebay are just sold for profit from people with family plans who get like 4 vibrants at $199 each and sell them for profit.

btw, VATS is the European Union's form of sales tax. You don't pay it unless you are in the EU.
 
Expansys are well known for being very expensive compared to most others. I got mine for 440 pounds at Clove, now just the wait to get it in my hands (April or May I expect).
 
It really looks like Samsung and all other makers aside from ZTE are taking people for a ride asking them to fork out more money then they need. Hopefully the ZTE Skate will be 200 pounds unlock. Will really show how much premium you are paying for.

On another note about buying in UK:
If you buy your mobile from a third party retailer like CPW you will get the phone unlocked-assuming that the SGS2 is available on all networks and not some exclusively locked phone.

I for one would like my contract to be 10 pounds or less and pay for more for the phone upfront. I've seen on a lot of websites that you technically pay the least amount of money in total if you decide to pay more upfront and get the lowest monthly contract possible. Also, I'd prefer to pay for the cost of the phone over time as the price of an unlock is too much. Buy lock-then root it :P
 
Who cares about the 650 pound price anyway? Clove has it for like a hundred pounds less, even with VAT included. Since I live outside the UK and don't pay VAT it came to 440 pounds.
 
Hmmn, interesting.

Clove emailed me overnight - they are now saying that they expect release late in March (which matches up with Plays release date). They are also now listing the 32GB model, which I had previously thought was going to end up a carrier exclusive for a time like the 16GB version of the SGS1 did. Unfortunately they are also hiking the price up from 440 pounds exclusive of VAT to 510 pounds...
 
Have to pay the higher amount, quite a bit higher since I elected to go for the 32GB model (I've been saving since I got the SGS1, and really want the 32GB of storage to complement my 32GB microSD, particularly since I'll be watching a lot of 720/1080p content via the SGS2). In the terms and conditions it was quite clear the 440 price was subject to change, since it was a pre-order, so I have no problem with Clove in this. Samsung on the other hand have got some nerve with that initial asking price, but there are always some chumps some like me who want their handsets ASAP right?
 
So if you order the phone from the UK and you're in the USA you don't pay VAT?
