Just back from a whirlwind trip to Asia visiting our Android ecosystem partners in Korea, Taiwan, and Japan. Exciting to see all the high quality Android devices available now, including Samsung Galaxy S4, HTC One, LG G2, Sony Xperia and many more. Also looking forward to the new devices our partners are launching in Berlin at IFA, played around with them last week and really nice -- stay tuned; we’ve got a lot more coming!

All this Android innovation is driving tremendous ecosystem momentum and I’m excited to share that together we’ve now passed 1 Billion Android device activations. Huge thanks to the entire Android community from the hardware manufacturers, chip makers and carriers to the developers and content creators to all of you - our Android users around the world - for making this possible.

On my return from Asia, I was also thrilled to find this guy waiting to greet me on the front lawn -- love the new #AndroidKitKat statue and can’t wait to release the next version of the platform that is as sweet as the candy bar that’s one of our team’s favorites:)

Woah, that would be a change moving to a trademarked name. I wonder if they have an agreement in play if this is legit?

Kit Kat is a registered trademark right?

I have a hard time believing it'd be kosher for them to use it

But that's some pretty good evidence

(Or a prank to build hype)

Here it is

Ah, its indeed a licensed deal, they're doing a promotion with kit Kat candy bars.

Giving away nexus devices with codes on the wrappers

Seriously!! I didnt even know you got kitkats in the US tbh. Im glad because i dont even know what a keylime pie is lol

I'm kind of glad it isn't klp.

Just goes to show you Google employee artwork from 2 years ago isn't a confirmation

Kitkat is good if you bite a bit off each end then suck tea through it like a straw to get it nice n soggy then eat it
Now that theyve crossed the line of usin trademarks, whats L gona be? Lovehearts?

I really hope this: "It's our goal with Android KitKat to make an amazing Android experience available for everybody."
means that the majority of phones running Jelly Bean today will be able to run KitKat (read as: I want my Galaxy Nexus to run KitKat).

I heard a relatively good rumor a long time ago that the K version would require quad-core processing. Then I saw the HTC One, S4 and Moto X launch with quad. So, I figured I was out of luck.

I guess I could still be out of luck. But, if KitKat has features I want and my Nexus can run it slightly slower, I will probably get it.

I really doubt the quad core thing is true mate. Millions of american s3 users would be a bit pissed lol

I highly doubt the quad core rumor. The Moto X doesn't even have a "quad-core" processor in the usual use of the term.
