Root kernel flashing question

i actually do not use set cpu or any profiles. i tried power save which sucked lol. im interested in testing interactive or conservative. any idea what userspace does?

Thats because powersave always uses the min frequency ;) i only ever use powersave on the screen off profile which is redundant because i set it at 245-245 anyhow...

yea i just realized that lol. how about conservative, interactive, and userspace

Ill leave that to akaza he has responded to that so many times he probably has it pasted somewhere he can just copy from now :) I'd have to go back and find his thread to answer anyhow :)

okay thanks i have just flashed the sbc kernel, see if i get better battery on that one. then im going back to smartass for testing.

Lol. I'm too lazy to go find my previous responses, but here's basically what they do:

Conservative, like on-demand, is based solely on load. What that means is that when the load is low, the the governor will keep the frequency as low as possible (the minimum). As load increases, the frequency will go up in steps. It does this to preserve battery life. Once load goes down, it will drop the frequency as quickly and low as possible. It will tend to favor lower frequencies. As a result, you may notice some choppiness, but better battery life.

Interactive - again, like on-demand, this is based on load. The difference is that it is the most responsive of all the other governor choices (other than performance, which just pegs the frequency at the max). Once load goes up just a bit, expect the frequency to jump to the max. It will tend to favor higher frequencies. This is great for performance, but not so much for battery life. Currently, this is the governor that I'm using, but I have the max frequency lowered (underclocking) to overcome some of the battery drain.

Userspace - Doesn't do anything. From what I understand it's used as a placeholder when something other than the kernel governor is used to control cpu frequency scaling.

Lol, fair enough. I've been known to spend more time trying to figure out how *not* to do something than if I just did it in the first place :p.

thanks for all of the info guys. for some reason even after the sbc and the reduced havs voltage my batt life doesn't seem any different. maybe i have a bad battery.
