Root [KERNEL][MS770][LOKI] Freedom Kernel Overclocked

Hey I don't know much about underclocking and overclocking. What's a good strategy to save battery but still utilize the processor speed ? I have the lg spirit 4g on metro
I have a kernel thread on the Spirit forum also. ;)

On my Spirit I keep it simple... I set it to 1.512ghz and interactive governor, and I set these settings on boot. I only overclock if I need it which is rarely.

With these settings I get 2 days on a full charge with moderate use.

Okay . You have the max and min on 1.512? If not, what's the minimum?

max - 1.512 ghz
min - 384 mhz
governor - interactive
scheduler - CFQ

Also keep in mind that the apps you have installed on your phone also determine battery life. For example if you run widgets that constantly update info like a weather widget than battery will drain faster. Something to keep in mind.

This app was recommended to me by a friend and I'm loving it, so I added it to the OP....
Trickster MOD Kernel Settings

Android Basics 101: Understanding Kernels

Hey GT I installed that Trickster thing to check it out.. Quick question, why is it reading one core as offline? Shows mHz for one core, core0, but lists core1 as offline. I don't understand much of this kernel stuff, just wondering ;)

Edit: never mind, I figured it out. Lists the second core as offline whenever it isn't being used for processing ;)

Just got around to installing one of these kernels. i installed the second version. so far it works great. I am not having any bad issues with anything even removing apps, thank you.

i would assuming the src is the first kernel then modified to be the second release.
is it possible to create a fork then revert src back to the 1.62 kernel without undervolt?

I went back to stock plus root on Saturday, first thing I did was install this kernel. I love how I can overclock with this and still get amazing battery life. Even with it at 1.62 and moderate use throughout my work day (even listened to a couple hours of Opie and Anthony) i was only losing like 3.5% an hour, which is key. This is the best thing available for this phone (second thing I did after root was remove every single trace of bloatware and useless apps)

yea i'm on stock too. you can make stock look just like cm pretty much. i use solo launcher with the jellybean theme. system settings is the only thing keeping it from looking completely like jellybean.

1.62 kernel without undervolt?
1.62ghz kernel is not undervolted which is why that one works on all motions.

1.674ghz kernel is using lower voltage for each overclock step which is why this one doesn't work on all motions, but probably works best on Cyanogen based roms since they're lighter than stock and require less voltage to run.

i rooted, installed 2nd init recovery, flashed the kernel, but i dont see any difference. im rooted n running stock, F

i would imagine you wont really see a huge difference. its not overclocked that much. What maybe 100mhz per core. You are able to remove apps without morningcall. if you chose the undervolted kernel you may see slight better battery useage. Also i think Gametheory added something for more adb useage.

Now with this Loki kernel, i am guessing booting roms from an sd card maybe possible. With apps such as bootmanager.
I would like to try as i was modding my stock version c rom and went into a permaloop. unbrick wouldnt even fix it, had been running from sd i could have easily corrected.

Why do you provide a link to firmware c. I thought your kernel only worked with f? Or does it work on both?
Firmware and modem are 2 different things. I don't have a link to firmware C, but I do have a link to C modem lol.

Some people claim they get better network speeds on C modem so that's why I threw in a link for convenience.

The kernel works on all firmwares now since it flashes F-aboot to make it compatible with all other firmwares.

I have firmware C, and although this explanation may seem self explanatory to most, I need clarification. Am I supposed to flash the f kernel and then unzip the C modem? Obviously, I don't even know how to use these terms in a sentence so can you please tell me the order of installation and whether the C modem file is even necessary? Explain it as if you're talking to a 10 yr old please :)

Thanks!

Just download the kernel zip and flash that zip in recovery. Nothing else needs to be done since the kernel is compatible with all firmwares.

Forget about the C-modem, that's there for convenience for those that may need/want it. Some people claim that they get faster network speeds with c-modem, so I made a flashable zip of it.

You are ok bud. These kernel packs will work on any firmware versions..
If you are on version C you already have the C modem.
C modem is not necessary. But some have said its the fastest.
Just flash the zip. Dont even need to wipe anything or factory reset. Its very straightforward.
All you need know is to know how to navigate in recovery.
