Root [Kernel] Stock CWM Flashable MetroPCS Kernel

I know, I know, not really useful for anybody other than me and a few others who are working on custom kernels, but I got tired of flashing through Odin on Windows, and booting back into Ubuntu, so I made this.

And I'm sharing.

MetroPCS Stock Kernel: here.

It's hella useful for me, lol. Now if I hose the kernel (which I seem to be doing every time), I can just repair it on the phone, without having to boot into Windows to use Odin.

Im not demanding this but is there a way to make the bluetooth more compatible with apps because I couldn't connect my wii remote with admire

I'm really sorry for my silly questions but I'm a CURIOUS girl XD after someone makes a costume kernal, there's a possibility that we can overclock the phone? Or is it really that hard as other devs paints it???

Well, I could create a kernel right now that is locked at a certain processor frequency, but to have fully customizable overclocking, we'd need to add a lot of code to the kernel, and have a ROM with the capabilities to ask the kernel to set the desired frequency via an app.

If you're familiar with C code (and Linux kernel hacking, as I am) it's not that hard, but it's not exactly a walk in the park either. Either way, it's definitely something I'm planning, but I have a real life job that takes up a lot of my programming/hacking time as well.

Baby steps, but I'm (possibly we're, but I don't like to speak for others) making definite progress.

Ooooh k! Well as I said in a last thread,I'm not good at developing stuff but I can help at testing.
Anw tke your time and remember that you're not foced to do this.
YOU have a life too and you should enjoy it as well! :)
Oh and thank you a bunch for all your hard work!

I enjoy doing this, and it's become quite the learning experience, another skill to add to my arsenal. I noticed you're from PR, out of curiosity who is your cell phone carrier? I noticed on the Samsung open source site that there are kernels for more than just the MetroPCS variant of the Admire (which I own), and I think there should be one for your carrier, and I'd like to support it as well. Shouldn't be too much different between the kernels, but I'd hate to have you install something I made with only MetroPCS in mind, and have it break something.

My carrier is "Open Mobile" and yes, after I installed Admiral Beast I lost my apns settings I know I have problem with my network connectivity.

Damn, and there's no way to go back to stock for you.

Well, I downloaded the source for the kernel for your phone (SCH-R720_ACG), so any further kernel builds I do, I can do for both phones. Not sure how much that's going to help you, seeing as how you're already running the MetroPCS kernel, but it could help others in the future.

I never did a nandroid backup but I can extract my friends clean stock rom.

Well, your friend should have the APN info needed on his phone. Tell him to grab APN Backup & Restore from the Market, and do an APN backup. It'll create an XML file in /sdcard/APNBackupRestore which has all the APN info. With this info, we could probably get your data restored.

a freindly bump for those who forget you must be using a stock kernel to run anything other than cm7 :)

Bump. For others trying to revert back after flashing CM7.2 in order to restore there backups. And not getting the Mount/system error after flashing Sui CWM.zip
