Root [Kernel]{ZVD}Speed, Speed_Unlshd & Stock/Root Kernel(s)

Glad I could help, I was very frustrated when I couldn't figure out why it wasn't working.
And the benchmark that showed my phone running at full speed and reporting that it was at 245 was baffling for a while.
So I started running tests to examine why and what I could do. The busybox install seems to be the governing factor.

I have switched back to the speed kernel now for battery issues, sadly. The unleashed kernel drains battery much faster even if the cpu is set to 1024. If I can get an extended battery, I will definitely switch back.

Yeah, it does seem to run my battery down a little faster...I cant remember what version of #2 with speed kernel but I think I was getting like 2-3 days on a charge but with 2.5.4 and speed unleashed even underclocked at 806 I'm getting 1 day which is still ok but not as good as before but yeah the kernel and ROM together are ultra smooth. Then again Ive had the esteem since day 1 so the battery in it has to be getting weak maybe even just a little so it could be just that.

nah your right.. i noticed the speed_unlshd does kill battery faster.. still trying to find out why... lol

flashed your rom and phones still a bit slow, do I need to flash this extra kernel or does rom#2 already include an overclocked kernel?

Really? The rom should be fast as hell even without over clock kernel. Did you wipe data/factory reset, format cache partition, and wipe dalvik cache prior to install? The install script does this, but I firmly believe in manually doing it anyway to ensure best results.
If you installed properly... try again anyway :). Sometimes something goes wrong and causes little issues.
If that don't work... maybe a bad download. Redownload, and start all over :)

Again... as I said before... this from should run smoother and faster than anything you may have been running prior on the esteem. Just remember.... its not an S3 hehe

Good Luck

Hi guys! Just wanted to say that I've owned my Esteem since Nov 11' and have been following development of ROMS and Kernels since then in these forums but never bothered to register (creepy much??) Anyways, currently I am using the LD-LG ZVD 3.5 ROM with the LD-LG ZVD Speed Kernel from ldrifta since ROM V. 2.9 and by the way wanted to say that this is the best ROM for my phone! I've tried #2, PG'S ROM to the Broken Out ROM and found that the debloated ROM gives me the best performance possible with the best battery life!

With that said, I wanted to share a tweak to the build.prop that I found on XDA developers. I flashed this through CWM with the Speed Kernel and my phone feels rather smoother and my battery life is much better! 21 hours with SOME usage on stock battery with 4G being enabled only when needed and constant playing of MP3 files! It makes my wife's iPhone 4S battery life look kinda whimpy :p

My phone is on fast boot mode and wont get out could you help?

Hey there! Hopefully this solution works.
What you can try is putting your SD card on another android phone/any SD card reader to move a file in it or if you cant mount it in via USB to your desktop from recovery even better!

Flash this file mentioned in the first page of the linked thread amd hopefully it can take you out of that bootloop! (Not sure if it will work on fastboot but its worth a try)

Hello this is my first time replying to any post here so i will try and be as accurate as I can.

First I update SW Version form MS910ZVC to MS910ZVD, just issues with that version with custom roms, don't know why or understand but needed a better solution.

Second I was able to root, install CWM Recovery and load cutom rom LD-LG v3.5, it was fairly simple. I also load the Speed_Unlshd+1.3+ so that I had a Kernel that supported overclocking. I did not load any themes. Just used the default that was installed with LD-LG v3.5

Third I was able to restore all my application, I used Titanium Backup Pro and my phone is exactly in the same configuration (Apps that is) that is was before I started the updates.

Forth the pros and cons

Pros.
1. Working great
2. better battery life
3, WiFi, Bluetooth, HDMI, Phone, you name it it WORKS!!!
I am overclocked to 1708 MHZ (using ondemand profile) CPU Master Pro
and the frequency stays, no issues there as I have read some that have this issue.
4. Fixed all of my issue with ZVD an custom rom

Con
1. Instruction did not tell you to load LD-LG V3.5 first.
2. responsiveness is slow and often unresponsive ( I really don't think it is the rom I have had it loaded only for a day now some were out on that one for.

All in All great work and good outline on instructions. It has breath new life into my LG Esteem 4G, the bloatware and restricted use of the phone placed on you by the corporation is ridiculous. 4 Thumbs up guy and than you.

my appologies.. but you dont NEED ld-lg prior to flashing a kernel, but you DO NEED a/any custom rom in-order to flash kernels lol, im almost positive they wont work on just the original stock/rooted system, but glad you like it!! thanks for the feedback :D im still a noob with kernels so thank PG for anything good that came out of these LOL

Thank you for the reply. I am on day 2 and I still have the unresponsiveness, but in some areas it has improved in others it is horrible. I have delete the Dalvik Cache to see if that help the responsiveness. I have edited the build.prop file and changed the pm.sleep_mode=1 to pm.sleep_mode=2 as stated for overclocking. I load the LD-LG v3.5 because I want all the bloatware to be gone, and all MetroPCS apps gone as well. I am not complaining, it really is to early to tell need to run with it for a couple more days. As I use it the phone it seems to improve in some areas, so i take that as a good sign. I love this version it has fixed the issue with speed dial, lost service (signal bar going from green to white bars). This version is so much better, no screen flicker, smooth scrolls, just better. I live with the some of the unresponsiveness because at least it works if I just wait for it to respond.

Thanks Happy

Okay found what was causing the phone to be unresponsive. It was lookout Anti-virus / malware scanner. Also used ROM Tool Kit and looked at the receivers that was loading on boot, there were allot of unnecessary items loading, disabled them and UN-installed lookout and now the phone is working GREAT!. I knew it was not the ROM...

Peace out, Thank Guys GREAT Job on the ROM. Was going to spring for the Galaxy S III, but now I keep my LG ESteem. Besides the Galaxy S III does not have HDMI out.

I'm more of a visual learning all the words and terms are still beyond me, is there any videos I could watch for this?

oopsie :D looks like I have more fixing/updating to do lol

personal opinion here.. my OC kernel stinks LOL, not sure how I screwed it up but im not that good with kernels so im sure it's something on my end.. but the non OC speed kernel is a good choice ;)
