Root [Kernel]{ZVD}Speed, Speed_Unlshd & Stock/Root Kernel(s)

well you can set a lower voltage.. but i dont have any under-volting tweaks or whatever it's called... stock was always good as is.. all i did was add extra cpu freq's and 2 gvnrs... but somehow people think it's default settings are different... lol just need to let it settle in... trust me you'll like it.. o and flash this over #2 if your using it...
What is smoothness.zip?

Thanks for the info but i didnt mean undervolt i meant underclock like as in less than 1 ghz processor throughput. Like 800 mhz 500 mhz...i just like the option for when i really need to save power that and for my set cpu screen off profile. This might be a noobish question but i was just curious.

*edit: im using lghome2 as my launcher so do i still need the smoothness.zip?

o.. ok yeah it has under clocking :D

as to smoothness question, im not sure LOL depends on if lg changes the defaulr name of launcher.. if so than i need to add it

How can i tell? I know that it shows up in root explorer as lghome2 where as stock i think is just lghome. I went ahead and flashed the kernel and i must say it is very nice...only been brave enough 1.5 oc so far =p:: ill see how much that impacts the battery and if its not that much i may go higher though i really dont see the point becoz at 1.5 everything seems to be instantaneous! The only problem i had with oc kernels like plague and bo was that games like dead space and shadowgun fc'd a lot when it didnt on stock...so if that doesnt happen then, at least for my phone, this will be the best kernel yet! =)

well from the rumors i hear battery isn't too good when oc'ing but thats expected lol, personally im running at 900Mhz and been perfect for me!! :D

Ya,i bet! But whats the point having an awesome phone with an awesome kernel if you dont stretch its legs out once in awhile! ;)

Edit: just tried 1.9 oc and it was stable for me. Just remember if you try it to uncheck set on boot first until your sure about it ;) again great job ld! This is great on my phone! Another excellent release! Thank you!

Ld this is a hell of a kernel I love it the battery life is great overclock at 19 and stable good look and good work thanks

Yeah ldrifta makes this phone better every few days a .1 at a time :p loving this kernel.. Been underclocking for day to day use but oc to show it off.. keep up the great work

#2 comes with stock/speed (non-OC'able) is great with battery life but if you want to OC than you Need speed unleashed, or another kernel from the forum :D

Up to you if you want to overclock/battery life will be worse though:(
Welcome to AF BTW:thumbup:

+1

Just a few notes:

some kernels play better with certain phones.

2 Ghz is the max oc. You can set it lower if u went with plague

Speed kernel is avail with oc feature as well

Yes over clocking gonna put a drain on your bat. It can also reduce the life of your cpu.

Thank you come again

The status bar on rom #2.5.2 single interferes with me watching YouTube videos and recording videos... it just randomly stops what I'm watching or recording...How can i fix this..the problem also exists in the 2.5.1 update but on the 2.5.....i also can't use icon changer in romtoolbox in the new update

Just a note:
If your running rom toolbox...
and u still have nofrills cpu install....
You gonna have some buggies

I had them both installed a while back, and was having all sorts of conflicts.
And icon changer was working, but not for all icons. Especially not battery.

Good luck

Ok so after a few days of uninstalling Nofrills CPU the problem disappeared...

I was noticing that on both setcpu and rom toolbox that even though i had it set to 800 it was still running at 1000. I tried uninstalling setcpu and kept rom toolbox and the ptoblem persisted. Overclocking seems to work as it should for me though. Is anyone else noticing this as well?

I would first check to see if you have set pm.sleep_mode to 2.
I had the same issue after I set this for a while. I could set the speed in no frills cpu and it would show the speed I set in each program, but a benchmark showed that it was still stock speed. The solution was to update busybox. After updating, ROM toolbox worked correctly.
An app from the market should be sufficient for updating busybox.

Is there a way to set an oc value in rom toolbox and have it stick? i set mine to 1516 and changed the govenor to smartass 2 but it never sticks. It goes back to default. I installed busybox but I'm not to familiar what to change in there or rom toolbox pro. Sorry for the long ?/reply I'm still very green.

Yeah I had pm.sleep_mode done. But it would appear that updating to busybox v1.20 has solved the problem using busybox installer from the play store. It bootlooped on me the first time I started it afterward but then I rebooted to recovery (hold both volume buttons while powering on) and wiped cache and dalvik and restarted x2 and it worked perfectly after. Thanks for your help DrHangman! :)

Glad I could help, I was very frustrated when I couldn't figure out why it wasn't working.
And the benchmark that showed my phone running at full speed and reporting that it was at 245 was baffling for a while.
So I started running tests to examine why and what I could do. The busybox install seems to be the governing factor.

I have switched back to the speed kernel now for battery issues, sadly. The unleashed kernel drains battery much faster even if the cpu is set to 1024. If I can get an extended battery, I will definitely switch back.
