Kind of disapointed...

Seems to me if you 2 are not trying to start s*** you would not have said anything at all =P

I did not notice any particular tone in your comments, myself...But I can be a tad dense =)

All I did was ask NY a question. That is all. Is that a bad thing? He answered it and there. It is over and I think everyone agrees with that. Once again I was joking around with foltz in the other posts and I told him that in the same thread. People took my post in the wrong way. I have not said anything negative in this thread if you care to read the post again. I was being completely neutral. I respected NYs opinion. I never thought this would evolve into a conflict. Please don't take this post in a bad way. I will not respond to further comments. I did not intend anything in a bad way. I apologize if I have hurt anyone, but take my word, it was not on purpose. I think everyone will agree with this. I love helping people out here, and sometimes there are misunderstandings that lead to worse situations.

Thanks Treydude for noticing the tonality of the post. Like I said, they were nonbiased. Thanks Jazz for the thread on Forum Etiquette

Joser,
I apologize to you for speaking out of turn. It caught me off guard yesterday was all. In the future I will restrain from commenting on someone elses intention or vocal inflection. You have great knowlege and I respect it and you.

I for one will bow out and return this thread to questions and answers.

Sorry for offending.

I'm a new Android user (total newbie) and I installed another keyboard but when I tap to text or add contacts, etc.. the original keyboard always comes up. Even when I clicked to select keypurr under languages and keyboard, it defaulted to the original. How do i over-ride this default? Thanks.

Go into settings, language and keyboard, uncheck the one that is checked and check the keyboard you want to use.

Then type something like a text message and when the keyboard comes up it will still be the old one. Click on the 123 key and a popup will come up with input on it. Select the keyboard you want to use and if you have a default box there check it too.

That should do it.

Hope this helps you!!! :)

Not sure to be honest. I would assume it would stop using thestock keyboard by default. There are some knowledgeable users in here and I am sure they will be glad to assist you.

Just got home from work. Thanks for all the replies.

Yes the phone is rooted. Task killer is gone. Launcher pro is downloading as we speak.

Is juice something or another worth it for battery life?

And can anyone toss out a few keyboard suggestions, as long as it works with swipe, as I have fallen in love in 24 hours with it!!! Thanks again

I don't think you can use any other keyboard with swype other than the swype keyboard. But I don't use swype, so I could be wrong.

If you decide to go the traditional route, I also recommend Better Keyboard. Its fast, efficient, and you can download different skins for it too.

If you find that you're still getting a lot of lag after using Launcher Pro, you can try Zeam. Its another launcher app that is a little lighter on resources than Launcher Pro.

You can use swype with Keypurr. Swype lovers love Keypurr. A free trial version just came out. Available at the market.

I still use task killer...noone has really given me a good reason not to. And there is ALWAYS something running that does not need to be.

The only reasons I could see for saying task killers can cause harm are because you another running process, because it takes up more space on the phone's internal memory than if you didn't have it, and *possibly* that force terminating an app might cause something to go screwy. Of course, Android OS being based on a Linux kernel, I find that a lot less likely than if it were, say, Windows-based.

I've never had to use a task killer. I should probably download one just to see how it works and that way I can know what you guys are talking about. LOL

The point where I find a task killer to be most useful is if you are running out of internal storage space, as the less you have, the worse your performance gets. Killing tasks that don't need to be running frees up more running memory, and helps performance. The other option is just getting rid of apps you don't use. I've had to be picky about the apps I download so that I don't kill my phone, performance-wise. In other words, stop going on a downloading spree just because "Hey, that looks cool!"

I know what you mean about downloading apps. I don't play games on my phone and the only music I listen to is Pandora Radio so I don't download a bunch of music. I have enough MP3s and Ringtones to make it interesting. :P

The apps I download are mostly for rooting and customization. Weather widgets and icon widgets and folder stuff. I see one and I just have to have it! hahaha

So far my phone works great but I'm about 80% maxed out on the apps.

But you got me pegged on the "Hey that looks cool!" That's me to a tee! LMAO!!!

Enabling keyboards on Android is a two step process. Once you've selected it in your phone settings, long-press any text field (email, sms, notepad, whatever). Select "input method" from the list that pops up and choose Keypurr.

It's a bit annoying and confuses LOTS of new users.

Happy Typing!

Just another reason I LOVE Keypurr!!!! No other developer helps with their product like Keypurr! Or would just help to answer a technical question like you just did!

HUGS!!!! :D

Long press a text entry area, for example in your messages, select input method, choose the keyboard

I'm in the same boat as you as being a little disappointed with the speed and lagging. For the price and compared to my old phone it is totally worth the price. The only thing I can tell you is try and wait until version 2.2 and see how much that improves the speed. I hear a lot of great things about how much the OS is sped up.

outstanding. I too was about to say if u want to pay an arm and a leg and get stuck in contracts get an epic 4g or evo 4g both have a 1 gb processor with the overpriced tag and contract. Then wait a few then u will say it aint fast enough bc u wanted to prolly go on w.o.w. and facebook while trying to be on a phone call trying to update your twitter while checking myspace and maybe watching youtube i mean come on ppl. its a phone get a laptop for your downloading sprees and heavy gaming. For the price its a hell of a deal. Nothings ever fast enough for anyone i bet iphone 4 ppl have ******ed complaints about speed. Its a phone ppl come on not a super computer.

Great post, Planeswalker!!!

:)

^^ What he said.

Laptop for heavy gaming and downloading though? Nah, I'll stick with the desktop PC I built custom. You can't upgrade the video card or drop in extra internal 2TB hard drives in a laptop!

Just a sidenote: Have you seen the new Alienware laptop by Dell?
