Root Kings unleashed r5 question

Evomattnc, I selected the nandroid backup. I think there were other choices but I can't remember. I am going to backup again. Is there some thing I need to check before moving on? I flashed that alternate recovery from ROM manager.

If you have moved on to Ra 2.3 when you select back up it goes to a sub menu with a choice of things to back up. They have X's next to what is being backed up.

Choices from memory are:
Boot
System
Data
Cache
Recovery
Android secure
EXT
Wimax
Google proprietary

I may have missed something anyhow...by default boot, system, and data are selected and are technically all you need for your phone to boot up and function. However we sometimes want to select the other options.

Cache - cache isnt entirely necessary to back up unless you are in the habit of not wiping before restoring a nandroid. I wipe before restores so i dont really need cache as a matter of fact i like to wipe my cache regularly anyhow. If you dont wipe before a restore or are forgetful it may be to your benefit to back that thing up :).

Wimax - These are your rsa keys...your ability to use 4g on your phone. If you want to use 4g or ever might have 4g you will want at least one back up with a wimax included in case you lose your keys you can restore a back up with wimax and get them back. I would make a new nandroid in RA with wimax if i were you...

Android secure - if you have moved any apps to the sd card using the built in apps2sd (in manage applications, or titanium, or using a 3rd party app that utilizes apps2sd) then this is where they go (well the useful part of them but thats a topic for another day). Anyhow if you move apps to your sd card then back this up or they wont come back and you will have to redownload them...

EXT - this is if you have partitioned your sd card. If you created an ext partition on your sd card and moved anything there (apps, dalvik...) you would want to back up ext.

Google - I have no idea what this is, im not sure anyone does. Probably just what it sounds like. Google apps get backed up in system or data anyhow...no one i know uses this...

Recovery - Why? If you have a broken recovery you cant exactly restore a back up to get a good recovery back since you dont have a recovery, seems like a dumb catch 22 to me...I suppose you could always pull the recovery.img from the back up and restore it that way but flashing a new recovery is much easier...needless to say, you never need this...

Summary...Back up Boot, System, Data

need at least one with wimax (you can have them all it doesnt matter just takes up more space)

cache if you are forgetful or dont wipe

android secure if apps are on sd

ext if you have a partitioned sd card,

google never

recovery never
 
Ok, so I need to be sure those things are x off. The others I don't. I remember seeing winmax being backed up. So the alternate recovery is Amon in Rom manager?...it said ra 2.3 or something. Is this right? Stupid question time....is kings r5 any form of gingerbread? I'm about to flash it again in a few. Hope this file works.lol . I will be backing up again, why not, right? Thanks for the help and advice.
 
Hmmmmm, I don't understand, The Kings all format went fine. When I got to the kings unleashed r5 it says....finding file, file found....opening file...cant open file, it lists the kings unleashed file r5, at the end of that it says (bad). Now what? I am supposed to put the kings format all first and then the actual Rom...right? When I downloaded the 2nd Kings unleashed last night, I noticed it came from the same place as the first one I tried. File 4share or something....anyway to get another file somewhere else. 2 files from the download site file 4share (something like that) have been bad. I think it was the same file I tried last night. Anyone want to try it and see if it works for them??? lol. Need new file I guess...
 
Is there a sense based Rom, that uses gingerbread? I looked online and couldn't find another kings r5. I want a Rom with everything (3g, 4g etc.) Working. Not a Rom that ,has had lots of issues. Kings unleashed sounded good,maybe another version of Kings? Id love r5 if possible. Any great working gingerbread Roms? I'll keep searching....
 
I was reading about root here and I wonder if this is my problem. I just looked at my sd card and my kings unleashed r5 and my kings format file, is under downloads. Now the Kings format all, downloaded fine from there ,but the Kings R5 says (bad) file. If I need to move the files on my sd card, Where and how do I move them? Laptops in shop, I would have to move manually....I have Astro for my sd card. Im not sure if this is the issue, because the Kings format all file downloaded fine from there. Thanks..

Your back up name will tell you what's backed up. Bdsaew etc. boot, system, data, android secure, ext, wimax...etc. Ra is amon ra.

R5 should work, I'll give you my file...

We don't have gb with sense fully functioning yet, none of them have 4g.

You can try r3 or r4, they are on the same xda thread if you scroll down. You can try my copy of r5 first though I'll send it to you soon.

No need to move the files, downloading r5 to the laptop then transferring would be the best bet but no laptop...

Settings, sounds, notification sound...? Place your sound file in system/media/audio/notifications then try setting it in settings...?

Some have 4g....based on the leak from a month ago. Kings and misfit both had a build. They're based off the evo gb leak and sense 1.0. No custom kernel ability which is a dealbreaker for me.

Well the up sucks on my wifi. Down its like 20 mb going the other way is 40 times slower lol. Plus dropbox isn't like blazing fast and I can't stop using all my bandwidth long enough to let it finish lol so I'm using someone else's wifi so I can still play xbox on my own

Meh it wasnt an issue, I needed to set up my dropbox anyhow, i had forgotten my password and didnt have the app on my phone either. Now my dropbox is rocking again. Hopefully that works...i flashed that file myself and I am running it. When its done downloading your zip should be 144mb...
