See some of the videos reviewing the update? We're not getting a lot of the tweaks seen on the nexus 5 :-/
Pretty disappointing.
I flashed it myself, but nothing on brothers Nexus 7 yet in the UK.
Even the framework trick doesn't work.
Yep, pretty much how I feel about 4.4 on the Nexus 7. The interface changes I liked on the Nexus 5 are all absent.
Factory image is out now too.
Just wondering, what is the difference between the link you posted earlier for the ota update and the factory image?
Which one should we use now?
Would this one be ok for the nexus 7 2013 wifi?
Factory Images "razor" for Nexus 7 [2013] (Wi-Fi) 4.4 (KRT16O)
Thanks in advance.
The OTA is flashed in recovery and can be used on a totally stock device that still has its bootloader locked. The factory image is flashed through an unlocked bootloader. The OTA is the update that leaves your data intact while the factory by default wipes the device. However by altering the flash script or carefully manually flashing the right partitions, it can be used as an update.
I'm starting to believe that OTA update to Nexus 7 is complete bullshit. For I haven't heard or seen anybody actually get the OTA yet...
FWIW, sideloading KitKat is quick and painless.
Unfortunately its "Immersion mode" (hides the button bar on the Nexus 5) doesn't work on the Nexus7.
Also, my idle battery drain has been drastically reduced by this update. I mean, it has been cut by probably two thirds. Not sure what happened there, but I've got virtually all of my apps re-installed so it's not the lack of a battery-draining app. Last night's battery drain while I was sleeping was practically non-existent.
I believe the factory images can be flashed onto a locked bootloader as well, since they're signed, no?
have to say, I think removing the up/down arrows from the Wifi icon was a real step backwards, and I'm not sure I see the benefit.
I got some horrible wakelocks in the early days with my Nexus 5 due to app incompatibilities with the update. Greenify has helped quite a bit with that. Also, my idle battery drain has been drastically reduced by this update. I mean, it has been cut by probably two thirds. I'm not so sure they're signed anymore. You seem to get little warnings in the output now that boot, recovery, and system don't have a sig when flashing the rom as the zip file through the bootloader.

This is so dumb. I keep checking for the OTA daily. The Moto X is getting 4.4 today thru Vzw. Doesn't that just seem wrong? 2013 Nexus device is getting beat out by a non Nexus device in receiving the new OS update. WTF?
The N7 LTE KitKat rollout is later, correct? I thought that I read that one was coming soon.
Is that right?
