its the kernel source tht will help the devoplers finish the 2.1 rom that they already have up and running but were missing a few drivers
 
Flashed a ROM and wanted to point out 3 things I noticed, maybe they help some people, this forum was amazing.

1. There are a lot of instructions, try and find the newest ones, because then you won't go through 3 different processes to get to the same place like me.

2. Although your results may vary, this was more like an upgrade than a reset for me, most settings etc. stayed the same.

3. Fresh 1.1 doesn't change a ton, I like it, I think I'll stick with it, but for me, if I HAD to switch back to stock, it would be ok.
 
Question. If I get a new SD card, do I just have to Copy and Paste the entire contents of the old one to the new one, and my Hero, running Fresh1.1, will boot up fine?

I don't see any reason it wouldn't boot just fine. I don't believe anything on the card is pertinent to the operation of the ROM. That's why you can mount the card to your computer and the phone still operates.
 
Anyone have any better screenshots of the TTG rom? The ones on the site are tiny...want to see what it looks like a little better before I flash it over.

I bought a new SD card the other day, copied the contents over and the icons to all of my apps were there but my phone couldn't find them when I tried to open them. I had to delete the app and then re-download each one. There wasn't anything to delete though except for maybe the icons to each one. Maybe it was because I have apps2sd? Idk.

did you format the new card so it works for apps2sd? Partition and format just like you did the original card
 
Are there any of these rom's that update the firmware from 1.5? I was hoping for google navigation and voice searching and have been unsuccessful so far with ttg and MoDaCo. Same with Fresh 1.1, though Fresh is super fast and slick.
 
Help. I had rooted my phone and been running Fresh 1.1.

I tried installing villain 1.2. It never got past the HTC screen. I tried removing the battery, got to the skate board screen, but I am still getting hung up on the HTC screen.

Please advise what to do.

Tell me I haven't bricked it.

villain 1.2? What's that?

Try booting into the recovery console and doing a nandroid restore. The flash could have gotten corrupt, so restore and try it again
 
Uhh, Villain 1.2 is a ROM for the GSM Hero...not the CDMA Hero. Can you still get to the recovery console? If so, you can re-flash the Fresh 1.1 ROM...or try going back to stock.
 
Turn the phone off, hold Vol down + power button to boot, press Home key to enter the recovery image. From there you can wipe and re-flash to Fresh 1.1...if you can't boot into recovery then I'm not sure. Be sure to READ before flashing any ROM to your phone :)
 
Yes, I got it back and everything restored (fortunately, I had done a backup). I can't believe I was so stupid as to not realize it was GSM.

I had just been holding the home key down on reboot. Once again thanks for your help.

The 2.1 source is out for Android. It, of course, doesn't have the HTC specific stuff in it but 2.1 is out. I am willing to be we see working 2.1 ROMs without Sense before the update comes out.
 
Last night i decided to throw TTG v0.1.6 ROM on my phone, all i can say is "WOW" ..pretty stable and fast ROM ......I love the fact that it has kernel included in it...
 
Ok I put the new one on the card. Do I need to do a back up? Also do I need to delete the old one? When im at the green and black screen do I do a wipe then flash zip from sdcard?
