Root Latest Flytouch 3 Custom and Modded Roms-updated

I tested few ROM's and I'am staying on Tim's 3d, because it is faster than original and few another releases, but downloading from Market is slow as hell :(. When I restored my apps by Titanium, I found that some app was causeing the color fade problem - probably Opera Mobile or Opera Mini. And this fw has small bug - downloading update to BusyBox, the Titanium have error and program thinks that ROM isn't rooted.

Market placed to this ROM haven't got apps like Skype etc. but this fix work for me:

Here's another update! This one adds even more speed increases from VM heap size optimization, SD card access tweaks, some library updates, etc.
Also, I compiled a new busybox static binary (1.18.4) with all the trimmings That should help with the Titanium errors and other things.
I have compiled a new WPA_Supplicant (from AOSP git repo) to allow for all WPA variants while keeping ad-hoc support. Compiles and runs fine but still does not scan networks properly - I'll come back to this.
I also compiled an entire AOSP kernel source tree (for the modules). I have modules compiled for damn near everything linux supports, so I will be systematically adding things that make sense. Please PM or email me any requests for modules.
One of the things I will be trying to add is the replacement audio driver I compiled - I just need to disable the compiled-in one through sysfs - last time I tried, it took the system out - I'll come back to this as well.
Also, touch screen calibration comes up on first boot now
Anyway, let me know what you guys think.

PS: This also takes care of Market issues with 16GB upgraded units. (apadjph75, this means you)
PPS: Oh, And I included the bootloader update from the official RC - that should take care of people with dim screens on bootup :] just copy bootloader-discovery along with the firmware files to your TF/microSD

Hey guys
Sorry updates have been a bit lax of late - been working on some other issues, some FT3 related, others not. Not to mention having to build a PBX and rebuilt my laptop a couple more times lol

13Apr2011:

This is mostly based off of 405, although it has many changes (of course some I'm sure didnt make it to this changelog)
* all filesystems are mounted ext2 instead of ext3 with noatime set - basically, journalling is a huge performance hit on flash/nand... if you have any questions, i'll be glad to discuss off-thread
* Youtube App now included
* More sound fixes - still not perfect, but improved
* More app compatibility fixes
* Terminal App now included again
* ad nauseum
So eat it up guys, and let me know what you think - I am going to tear the Dutch ROM apart now to try and fix the strange colour issue. Also have much more info on the sound issue, and am quickly becoming a master of the DSP used in these machines haha. I may see if I can get the sources to DSPManager and maybe I can tweak what it writes to? I'll have to see if that conversion is feasible.
If you need me, I'll be around thanks for all the kind words of support everyone! I'll set up a donation page on my site soon (the site itself if a bit embarrassing atm, don't let it fool you though - I am *not* in the wedding business ) where y'all can buy me a beer or somesuch if you want to thank me.
Anyway, have a great day everyone, and I look forward to your feedback!

Hi loaded this firmware on 2 16gb tablets http://thechillhacker.com/media/19Apr2011.zip waited over half hour for the tablet to boot-up from the android with the light wizzing round it and still would not go any further,i had to reinstall original firmware? any ideas

Any news on the dongle issue, the 3g light flashes for 2 secs and then goes off, no permanent connection with my Huawei e1750. :(

I tested Tim's 3a, 3c and now 3d firmware. 3c was very slowly. 3d now is quite good. I'll staying on Tim's 3d. What about USB Bluetooth for Flytouch Tablets? It seems no Bluetooth stack in the device firmware.

If you have a x576 screen you will see an "offset" for your screen, simply launch the GScript application, scroll at the bottom and click on the 1024x576 fix. then reboot

i mean they haven't this option in gscript after flashing the rom?u know why?

Hi you all,

i have tim 3d on my fly touch every thing works fine. only the markt is so slow in downloding apps. is there an anwser for this because i download angry birds now for over 1 hour.

The Tim's 4a FW is ready for download!

http://public.timduru.org/Android/Flytouch3/Tim-V4/20110516_Tim4a.zip

CHANGE LOG:

- based on 20110503 firmware
- Speed improvements
- Most Huawei 3G sticks support
- Flash support for full screen videos (still requires a lot of cpu to work, but should work better and fullscreen for most videos, make sure you don't have other cpu eating apps running at the same time or it tends to be unstable)
- fixed installation failed error -18 requiring to remove SD card for certain applications (Angry birds...)
- backported 16GB tablet format partition fix for Market (refusing to install)
- added tun.ko kernel module for certain VPNs
- media scanning Off by default (use Gscript to activate it back, or use QuickPic for Pics and video browsing, and ccplayer for music, faster ! )
- internal SD card free space is now at /mnt/sdcard and external SD1 is at /mnt/sdcard/sdcard1
- added GScript to disable/enable media scanning (disabled by default)
- ask before doing media scanning on SD card insertion
- updated to latest gmail app
- updated youtube app to 2.1.6
- updated titanium app
- added Gscript to activate/deactivate calendar and contact sync (On by default)
- Better Keyboard 8 as default
- Dolphin browser HD
- added init.d structure call at boot time
- updated framework and libs
- updated QuickPic
- Turned ethernet off and wifi on by default
- backport most tweaks and modifications
- added GScript to send top command output
- added cpunotify
- added GScript to activate sd speed patch (Off by default)
- added GScript to activate sysctl battery helper mode (Off by default) (might slow down performance)
- added GScript for ads blocking On-Off (On by default)

EDIT:
I've tested this FW on F&F Adrenaline - on Tim's 3d it was very laggy on 4a is working very smoothly!

EDIT: On this version cache for apps and all folders even for backups from Titanium are stored to "Local", not to SD1 - I think that is wrong idea because if you have maps for gps, backup of offline wikipedia for WikiDroyd etc. it must be stored on LOCAL. I think that Tim should revert this to SD1, because if you don't copy the Titanium Backup folder to SD1 before the update to newer firmwares your all backup will be lost. And after update from 3d to 4a the Titanium not found your backups, you should set on settings the folder where the backups are placed. Don't worry Titanium search it automaticly. So you should know that Local will be formated if you update the FW in future!
EDIT: Another bug, the GPS can't be disabled :( - problem fixed, but another is reported by some users that GPS isn't working when the wifi box is unchecked on LOCATIONS.

News:

- Tim is working on NTFS support for our tablet!

UPCOMING 201105XX-Tim4b
- fix skype crash on login
- added e2fsck, mke2fs, tune2fs, resize2fs binaries
- fix external SD incorrect location detected by some apps (link2sd, ...)

Hi
I am new to this, only got my FT3 a week ago and this is my first post.

Tonight, I have upgraded to three different firmwares (non with the correct screen alignment- but sorted that out). The last update was the most successful yet. I put Tim's 4A on and I have finally got my Huawei E1752cu 3G modem to connect. It connected to Abroadband.

All I can say is that I am absolutely delighted and I'd like to thank the rom producer for this rom. I still had to fix the screen offset, which is a bit of a pain, but otherwise I am delighted with it :-)

Cheers

Open GScript Lite and click on 1024x576 fix

Thanks, I will do in the future - it should be much quicker :-)

Does anybody know why, when I installed Amazon Kindle App, it used the local storage instead of the SD card that it used to, and so can't find any of my existing books?

PS: OK Guys figure it out.. Nice Build for TIM upgraded to tim4c great stuff and he enable development right at your hands Awesome!!

YOU ROCK TIM!! = ):D

Tim's 4c corrected all issues within the Adobe Flash plug in for the browser (yahoo's fantasy stattracker, for example.) Really brings out this tablet's full potential. Nice work, and thank you.

Andy

I am very impressed with the work some people are doing and I'm thinking about buying one of the Ibex FT3 but had a question... Will this modded device play all the same audio and video formats? I'm currently using an Archos 43it to play aac+ audio files and h.264 mp4 video files and would like to keep those functioning. Also I second the request for a USB bluetooth device support including A2DP profile.

Thanks.

I'm running Tim's latest 4d firmware update. So far, no problems or hiccups. Made a huge difference from the extremely limited original firmware that came with the tablet. I can finally watch You tube!! Like to see if I can get Pandora to work. It wouldn't work with the original firmware..

Found one problem.. Can't install Angry Birds. Keeps giving error 18. Anybody know of a fix? I took my 8gb sd card out and it still wouldn't install.. Bummer.
