Latest i9100 modems

I'm using KL1, the default that came with checkrom. i guess flashing one of these would be more beneficial

You've nothing to lose, and everything to gain, by trying one of the newer modems. As you can see, I've had good results from all of them but it does depend on your location and network sometimes but you should be OK. :)

gave LPQ a try, i was getting -96 dBm 10 ASU, until i picked the phone up off my desk, then it dropped to the old numbers. got me excited for a minute there, lol

And it's about time too Shotty
:)

All the others have been XX, this one is DX.
Is this a german one perhaps?

And on the subject of country codes, can anyone post up the link to all the different ones please? I can't seem to find it now....

I'm not really sure where its from but it seems to work ok.

Hmm. LP7 gives me that +85dbm value in Network Signal Info. Anyone else got this too?

Yeah I'm getting that too

Isn't LP7 the Indonesian version of LPQ?

Not a lot in it as you can see from the screenies. Think I'll stick with LPQ though.

Flash it through CWM.

New modems are theoretically better (in terms of signal call quality etc)
This is sometimes the case, but mostly there isnt too much real-world difference. I however prefer to keep the latest version on so long as it is as good as or better than the previous one.

I'm back on LPQ too.
Not one of your better ones there Shotty old boy!
:D

+1 "Shotty must pay attention and try harder in lessons" 3/10 :(

Just keeping peoples options open:(

It didn't stay on my phone for too long either. I chanced upon another one from a Three firmware so I thought I'd give it a go as it matches my carrier.

LP2

Strange thing is I thought lp2 firmware came with the lp1 modem. Anyway it send quick for me.

Just as a footnote to Hawker's post... Some modems work better in some areas of the the world than others and with some carriers better than others. The last , universally, working modem that I can recall... was KI4, which seemed to work worldwide.

It really is a case of trying them for yourself. ;)

Nothing like keeping your options open I always say! ;)

Let us know how you get on as it is an older modem than LPQ and I'm not on Three. Not sure if that would make a difference anyway.

It doesn't really seem much different than lpq at the moment. The only way I'm really going to know the difference is if I go to a reception blackspot. I might have to invite myself round one of my mates for a few beers as I always have crap reception in his garden.

Where can I see which modem I have installed ?

Settings, about phone and its baseband version.

Edit: nice ninja

As far as now, after few days testing, dont see a diffrence between Q & J. Good signal and all working fine on both.

Presumably you mean -85dBm, +85 would be something! I find LP7 better than LPQ, particularly with 3G reception, but it's hard to compare objectively with only one device. :)

Nah, there's a bug in the app which shows a plus figure instead of minus on the gs2 with some modems and firmwares.

Darn!

I thought it was a new modem as well Shotty!

What's that name for someone in charge of a bar...

Oh! that's it... a bar steward! ;)
