Hi Romulous, I'm with Meteor. I was using lpx, changed recently to lq5 and have had no problems with either of them. I would suggest lq5.Cheers buddy.
I will give that a go now.

Shopping is not high on the ironass to-do list... come to think of it... its not even on the list!
However, very occasionally, I am forced to go to a supermarket and today was one of those occasions. After risking life and limb in this totally alien world, understood by only women, I made my way to the car park and whilst I waited for both the car, and myself, to cool down, I decided to test out the new LPX modem that I'd installed at the weekend and see what the phone signal and GPS, on LPF firmware, were like.
The results speak for themselves...

Sorry for my ignorance but Lower Net Strength means better or worse. For instance -65 is better than -85?
Thank you!

Even I think this may be a foolish question...but I suppose no question is foolish if you don't know the answer.....
Can you flash any modem? No matter what Rom you are running? Can I flash xxlp5 if I'm running uhlps for example?
Last couple days my signal is completely all over place. One minutes screen says H+, next no signal icon. Network Signal app shows a sad face even when H+, you can imagine the face when in bad areas!
Just now was mid phonecall, showing H+ then phone cut off & had no signal for 10-15 seconds, unable to make calls.
Is this solely down to modem? I'm on LPX (Neat Rom Lite)
Not sure if connected but my battery life's dramatically reduced too.
I'm on O2 and - putting their recent problems to one side - I've been underwhelmed with recent modems. I've tried LPX, LQ5 and NELP4 and none of them are giving better than -97 dBm when I look at Network Signal and my battery is getting stuffed. Any tips? Do I need to let each modem settle in for a few days, or should I see results immediately?
Hi turbohobbit!
The O2 firmware comes with an LPW modem and I have PM'd you with the details as they obviously seem to favour this one.
It is a fact though, that what works for one person in one region on one particular carrier, may not work for someone else. There are very few modems that seem to be universally acceptable. These are the one's that generally work... KE7, KH3, KI3, KI4, KL1, LPS, NEKF2, NELP2 & NELP3.
I always give a modem 1 or 2 days to, "bed", in before pronouncing sentence.
