Right everybody!
In view of Shotty's lackadaisical attitude, lately, towards the task of updating modems... I have taken it upon myself, with the aid of Hawker and Syd, to bring you a new modem... hand tested by the afore mentioned. :dancing2:
The... BVLP7. :thumb:
It is the modem taken from the latest Samsung Galaxy S2, "P", variant, GT-i9100P on Orange firmware.
I will let Hawker and Syd give you their take on this modem. :five:
As you may know, I have been on the LPX modem for quite some time... because it works for me.
I even tried the LQ5 and LQ6 modems from Android 4.0.4 but, whilst they were the equal of the LPX in good or average signal areas, they let me down at the Twilight Zone pub, notorious for its extremely poor signal.
As with all modems, it's a case of, "One man's meat is another man's poison".
My findings are based on my handset, in the Cotswolds, on Vodafone.
The BVLP7 has proved to offer me a better signal than the LPX in all signal areas so far. I even went to the Twilight Zone for a swift half... just to be sure.
If you would like to give BVLP7 a go and see how it works for you, after a, "bedding in", period of 1 or 2 days, then you can download and install it from here using the, "Modem installation - A Dummies Guide". :hmmmm:
