Leaked 2.1 or Waiting for OTA?

took the plunge last night and I don't regret it one bit. this addressed all my needs, with two exceptions. my voice still makes the microphone cut out (i guess I'm just too loud for this phone) and the native music player is still horribly cluttered. I can live with it ............for now.
 
As soon as I heard there was a leaked 2.1, I was downloading and installing...

Missing some of my paid apps, but thats what you pay to play :)

So far I like what I see.
 
nothin special really so you guys arent missing out i wish i would have waited ohh well time to run 2.1 on my droid compare the difirence
 
I really like this phone and I have been burned in the past with leaked upgrades on other phones...ahem storm piece of !@#$...anyway I'll wait until Verizon deems the upgrade stable enough to push. I would imagine by then Nexus One will have hit so it will make it a tough decision.
 
Waiting. I'll probably end up waiting even if we don't get an OTA till year's end........unless my wife gets the N1 and flaunts it! She'll have a better phone, but I can say "I, not Verizon, updated my OS, myself!" While she still wonders what the heck an OS is.

LOL I was too until I thought about it, everyone that has made the jump are having too much fun with all the new stuff on the phone.

--I too took the jump! Now all my co-workers are all jealous because they are stuck on 2.01.

Or... you could just get a HEMI, like me :p I want 2.1, but I'm waiting for the official OTA.
 
I think I will wait patiently for this. No reason really not to wait. I can do everything I want right now on my Eris. I hope everyone enjoys 2.1 and I will definitely follow all the threads to see what everyone is doing so when it comes time I will know what the hell to do. Love this forum.

I'm waiting on the OTA, which I expect Real Soon Now. Of course I've downloaded the zip file and wouldn't hesitate to use it if VZW doesn't meet their promised deadline.
 
I did the upgrade and have been playing with 2.1 for a few hours now... and definitely digging it :D

It's definitely snappier. The camera UI is vastly improved. Editable user dictionary. Nice little tweaks all over the place. Getting ready to play with Google Nav!
 
aren't we all nerds? we'll figure out how to fix it when 200 people's phones on the forum are busted, ha

no reason not to upgrade
 
Upgraded my sisters phone with the leak earlier. It is much snappier. It is well worth the early upgrade haha

If I could root it like my droid then I would have...

I'm sure you really don't care about the hordes. But as for necessary, you are probably right that one can wait. However, (you knew there was a but in there) the phone actually hangs up when you hit "end call"!! And the battery life seems to actually have a life. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that this is the official release in a kind of beta style leak. I'm sure they are monitoring these boards for any last minute problems before the gold release and now fully understand that most programs and settings are lost. But in the few hours I've been toying around with it, I love it.
 
I'm using 2.1 now as well and loving it. As previous people report, the phone is much quicker. I can't say that I have any complaints as of yet.
 
I'm waiting at least one more day, even though the upgrade will allow me to use apps that I definitely have a need for. I just love that new OTA smell.
 
I'll most likely install it later today, even if it is some kind of prerelease I'm pretty sure once the official is out you'll be able to do a manual install of that to wipe everything fresh.
 
As badly as i want 2.1 on my phone, I just don't want to go through the time of setting up the phone the way i want it just to wipe it all clean when we get a root and good working rom. Thinking this is right around the corner now.

lol I think root on 1.5 is kinda dead. Though there might be more chances with the 2.1 (pipe dream?)

You can get all your paid apps redownloaded for free, if you go into the marketplace and go to downloads all your apps you download previously should show up and you can re download all the paid apps without paying again

Mind giving more info about the camera user interface and the "little tweaks all over the place?"
