Mind giving more info about the camera user interface and the "little tweaks all over the place?"

Sure! :)

The camera now has a pull out menu to make all of the adjustments; some of the adjustments like brightness and zoom have a nice slider bar that's very easy to use. Same deal with the camcorder. Haven't compared picture quality yet.

They've updated a lot of the icons. You can now edit the user dictionary. YouTube app is working wonderfully. There's now a desk clock mode that's pretty cool. You can use the stock Android switch panel that lets you control screen brightness in addition to the regular GPS/Bluetooth, etc. The home screen weather animation with the flip clock is pretty damn cool too, if nothing more than eye candy. Some new animations for menus, etc too. The Market is MUCH better, with screen shots, filtering, etc. And of course, Google Navigation and Goggles. Very cool.

I haven't checked out every little thing, but so far there are no downsides that I have encountered. It's also noticeably faster in operation. Very smooth. I was quite happy with the phone on 1.5, but I am really loving 2.1 :D

I am anxiously awaiting the OTA. I reeeealllly want to install the leak, but am forcing myself to wait a week or so.

Just waiting for 2.1, if same problems, I'll sell it. I was originally buying the droid, but loved the eris. I'm digging the form factor on the N1, but hate to give up this phone. Love the size.

Miught as well sell it now. The symptoms you described earlier are NOT an OS issue. See the several other battery threads for advice

Very impressive. First time I've seen a rundown like that about the 2.1 leaked update.

It sounds like this update is a bit more far-reaching than updates I can think of for the various Blackberries I've had.

Thank you for the info.

1.5 is fine, though. <----- (that's for Caddyman :D)

If I want my phone to receive the update when ready, (the OTA), does it need Mobile turned on or does it not matter?

I keep telling myself that I will wait for the OTA...........but I'm still on the fence? I would prefer for the majority of the bugs to be fixed before installing. I'm sure the OTA won't be perfect either.

Anyone have a video of the the eris running the leaked 2.1? I would like to see the differences.

As badly as i want 2.1 on my phone, I just don't want to go through the time of setting up the phone the way i want it just to wipe it all clean when we get a root and good working rom. Thinking this is right around the corner now.

Yeah. Each time I get tempted, I have this same thought.

can you deny the OTA when it comes and hold out to see what others have to deal with? Or does it force the install?

if you can deny, how often does it ask you to update?

I think that those waiting will be waiting a long time. Since Apple went after HTC on their patent infringements, I bet HTC is not in any hurry to officially release another version of an OS that could end up costing them more money or increase the likelihood of further suits until this is hashed out with Apple.

HTC already released it. Verizon just needs to send out via OTA.

Lawsuits take years to get to court, we'll have Android 4.0 by the time Apple officially takes HTC to court.

I was downloading, patching and installing as the posts where coming up on xda. I couldn't wait and I'm glad I didn't. I thought it was a great phone when it had 1.5......I freak'n LOVE this thing with 2.1!!

I spent probably ten hours customizing my scenes.

I'm not willing to give that up for rain and pinch zoom on my home screen.

Not until Verizon makes me!
