Leaker has achieved root!

1.49 S-Off -- yes, it will work (I think the only way to get this is to be already rooted anyway)

1.49 S-On -- no, it will not work

Yes, it will.

This is, SPECIFICALLY, for 1.49 S-On users.

This is, exactly, 'Leak Root', what everyone was looking for.

We're waiting for others to replicate this, then revise the process to be easier to follow and more reliable.

I have confidence. Enough people want this.

Thanks man, I'm waiting for my dad to get home, and I'll try this. He's already rooted a couple of phones, so I'm ganna get some help from him, so I don't **** up my phone.

Good luck, let us know how it goes. Apparently there's only been one person able to accomplish this so far.

So I'm going to try this later, but I have one question. The instructions are clearly for a phone other than the eris. Is it okay to use the slideroot.zip or is there and eris version somewhere I should be trying this with?

The slide root is the only one so thats the one you try it with

I hope no one is holding their breathe on this.... Mind you, I hope it works but so far, only one person, the person who posted the thread himself, has gotten it to work and even then, some questions are still unanswered.

My phone is already rooted but if I have to swap it for another one (silent call happens to me), I've no doubt I'd get a phone with 1.49 already on it and I'd be screwed. My wife's phone - formerly my phone - has leak v3 on it and rooting it would be nice too.

That thread at XDA linked in the first post here is a good read all the way through.

Having finished it, I was left wondering why it was linked here with the thread title, "Leaker has achieved root," exclamation point.

The XDA thread is dripping with doubts, skepticism and failures.

Is it working for The phone that it claims to work for?

This should be entertaining for a while.

Yeah, I hear ya. But after a while, my beer and pretzels run low, and I wake up the next morning hung over and telling myself, "Wow, that really sucked!"

:D :D

If you try this and fail, especially if you know your device drivers are working correctly, please put up a post that says.

I tried this and it failed.

Hopefully that will give folks the message that they are potentially giving up huge chunks of their time for a near-zero probability outcome.

Here's mine:

I tried this and it failed. All my device drivers are working.

Tried and failed.

Tried about 100 times fooling around with the SD card like it said and couldn't get it to say offline. So therefore i couldnt get past Step-6.

Posters should also post what step they failed at, that could help us.

Any of us who understood what we were doing should all fail at Step-6. If anyone gets it to show up as offline/recovery we know it works.
