Leaving

Trident,

I wil say the same to you as I said to Death in the other 'Leaving' thread. Thank you for all you've done and good luck with your future endeavors.
 
Losing you two is a huge blow, I mean I can't say more that others haven't said and i don't know if there will ever be enough thanks for you guys. I hope you both choose to stay, if not you will be sadly missed! Thanks again for everything.
 
Sorry to see you moving on from developing for the Ally, good luck on your next project what ever it may be.
 
You guys ARE the Ally community and you will be greatly missed. Your contributions and tireless work on this phone are priceless. I can understand your frustration at what seems like a total lack of respect and gratitude, but the many of us depend on you guys and are extremely grateful for all you do, not only for the LG Ally, but the entire Android community. Your roms allow us to have what LG and Verizon would never give us. We have better speed, less bloatware and ads, and a fully customized UI. When everything you do is never quite good enough for some, it can be frustrating and demoralizing and I get that. I don't usually post on message boards, but I feel like I need you guys to know just how much you mean to all of us. If I can persuade you to reconsider leaving the community, then I have done my job. People, we need to stop being so demanding of our devs. Let them know that you appreciate their work on our phones. If you do decide to leave, just know that your contributions to the community have not been in vain. You guys are awesome and I appreciate everything you have done for us and you will be greatly missed. It's because of you that I know what I do about the Ally and Android.
 
Well I don't know what happened in IRC or the forums in particular. I am sorry that whatever it was has caused the 2 of you to decide to quit. I personally have enjoyed your work and appreciated the help that you have provided along the way. Your contributions and insights took a little underpowered entry level phone and turned it into a very useful mini-Droid, far surpassing what its designers ever imagined it could do.

I wish you both well in your future endeavors. I would love it if you change your minds, but recognize that you have to do what is best for yourselves.

If this causes the community to lose respect for him, then I completely do not blame him for leaving. That is pretty much a ridiculous statement! No matter what his decision is on leaving or deciding to come back, death2all110 will always have my respect!!!
 
I am deeply saddened that it came to this. you two were the back bone of this community and without you, it wont be the same. I am not sure why people couldn't realize that before they drove you to want to leave. I wish you two would ultimately change your minds. And i hope that all of you out there that have made those two mad learn your lesson. this community is nothing without them and soon we will all see that when there are no sick roms for our phones on 2.2.1.

I purchased my phone on the fourth of July last, 2010. Since then I have checked this forum on average about 8-10 times a day. I am profoundly grateful to all of the developers, moderators, and everyone who makes this forum better. I remember that the first ROM I ever flashed (onto anything really) was Velocity 0.1. As silly it sounds, it was an experience that I will remember for a very long time. Death, I'm not picking on you, Trident just beat you to the punch. Punisher was pretty damn awesome. I almost never post because I'm afraid of being laughed at. You guys are awesome. Just AWESOME. If it weren't for this forum I probably would have ditched the ally around the end of summer/beginning of fall.

I understand if you 2 decide to leave. I would probably have the same thoughts if I were in your shoes. If you do decide to leave I wish both of you luck on your following endeavors.

All of this of course is coming from a humble 16 year old kid who thought he knew something about electronics before he discovered this. If you go, know that you will be missed by all.
 
I posted in death's other thread, so this post is intended for Trident. Dude, you will be sorely missed by this community, and I'm not just talking about the roms and other hacks. You were a great help in many things, not to mention being super cool about your releases and guides on stuff. If there is anything that could change your mind, and that of death's, I hope you find it. Every scene has its share of douchebags, I just wish ours weren't so outspoken.
 
I can't believe what I have learned about this phone. It is my first one like it, and without what the big guys here have thrown down for the public, I would never have thought any of it to be possible. I wish more people would hesitate to speak long enough to think about how it comes across. I am sorry to see anybody leave...let alone 2 of the people responsible for making the Ally a cool little phone.
 
Death, I remember staying up WAY later then I should have when you released Punisher, I had finals the next day :)
The thing I love about the 2 of you the most (more then your ROMS, I LOVE them too) is your willingness to help us noobs troubleshoot. This was a very selfless act which deserves more recognition then it gets. You are not only ingenious developers but admirable people.

Both of you are great developers with a great set of talents and skills that many people don't possess and I know for sure that both of you will be missed greatly.

That being said, if either of you would like to PM me and tell me what scene you are going to, I'm in the market for a new phone, lol.

noooooo!!!... man i just got into rooting and if it wasnt for you(d2a) and trident i would have never been able to root my 2.2.1 ally. you guys are awesome at what you do and im sorry i never got to use any of your other custom roms d2a. just from the little ive read youve made a big impact on the ally with your roms and now i wont ever be able to use any of your roms... :( good luck to you and trident in whatever you decide but i hope you stay.
 
Damn and I just got done slappin Froyo on my ally too. Kudos to Trident, d2a, and dreliss...whoever lol! Donations for each of u on the way. Best of luck with all yer future endeavors. I think yer talents will be better used on better devices anyway...funny though that Verizon is giving away free allys now lol!

On a side note, installing Froyo was super easy what with the detailed instructions, and the end result was everything I could have hoped for! Some people are just too dumb to be tinkering with their smartphones.
 
You two cats have cast a long and gracious shadow of accomplishment over this phone and through that, into the lives of those that use it, incontrovertibly for the better.

I for one look forward to some change that might cause a reversal but in appreciation of all that you've done and have stood for, would not presume to speak selfishly.

Whatever the decisions and whatever the reasons, I've no doubt whatsoever that the exemplary judgment shown in your work does and always will extend to your choices on all matters.

Hoping that you stay, but understanding always, I will simply wish you many best lucks!

I also implore all users to only post in the positive on this issue - no negativity whatsoever has a place in the forum at this grave time.
 
Ummmm....come on dudes. Don't bail. You've both had major achievements in ROM development and to my understanding there was even a chance of Velocity showing up on another phone. This is the shittiest shit day of my entire freaking life. :(
 
The problem is that a lot of what caused these two to leave didn't happen on these boards. It happened in IRC, and continues to go on pretty much every night. That's where Moderators are needed the most, because even when asked politely and repeatedly, some people refuse to stop their offensive disgusting comments; people get nasty, demanding, hateful, threatening. It's often almost impossible to ask questions or follow directions. It's stressful and aggravating. Add to that volatile mixture a new OS that requires a lengthy and technically challenging rooting method, frustrated folks with bricked phones, and frayed tempers and you've got an explosive environment that was primed for a blowout. It's unfortunate that we had to lose 2 awesome devs before it got attention. I hope it does now.

Everyone (besides the, "selfish & unapathetic".. kid's reply I quoted) have said the same or similar things i to what I would like to say....
Both of you have been PRICELESS assets to the, "underdog"..."under-rated" phone that is the, LG Ally. From the ROMs, to the pulled radios....to the kernals. All very VERY appreciated and enjoyed by myself and the many other members (in which most have posted in this thread)
Also...like most people that have replied...I would like to say, " I will DEFINITELY miss you guys. I will miss all the software, (ROMs, kernels, Ext) and especially the very helpful troubleshooting, advice, tips, and just all around help. You guys have ALWAYS been helfl and insightful no matter what the question...even if its been asked before many times.
I wish only the best for you guys!! I know you guys didn't make much money off your awesome contrabutions as you both were nice enough to post them up free with hopes that people would donate. So, I can most DEFINITELY understand the frustration you guys had to have felt when ungrateful...greedy...selfish...immature..disrespectful kids AND adults (no less) post up thoughtless demands, impatient demands. ..and so on.
So, if you guys don't return, I truely cannot blame you guys...AT ALL. I (like many others here) we would love to see BOTH of you return even if only to visit and/or give advice. (I would be lying if I didn't say that I'd love to see a FroYo ROM) but, for the most part just yourselves....both of you...
Trident and D2A are....were awesome members of this forum...and you guys will be missed A LOT

D2A and Trident:

Best of luck to both of and thank you for all you have done to make an economy phone the best it could be. You will be missed by us "old guys" and it is too bad some of these young kids cannot respect your god given talents. You both have helped me in the past and for that I am grateful.

Good luck in all of you future endevours! You are both are incredibly talented and hopefully I will get to enjoy your efforts on a future phone.

I think the best solution is to shut down the IRC channel. As much as it was a great asset, (Hell, I used it a couple of nights ago. Thanks again Death, Dots, and Anti) its being abused and the cause of frustration.

If this is what you want Death, do it. A hobby shouldn't frustrate you, or feel like a burden, it should be something you enjoy.
 
Well dammit...time to throw my wife's Ally in the trash. It's a pos phone anyway, but without the help of D2A and Trident to pull the dingleberries out and make good ROMS this phone with Froyo will be no better than any other sewer trout phone floating around in the bottom of the android bucket. Thank God I've got an OG Droid...looks like I might as well look for another one on ebay for the wife. Anyways, thanks to anyone (not just D2A and Trident) who has made this phone tolerable.

As a note to the thankless, you know who you are...that is why the devs are running away. If you whine and boohoo about something not working due to whatever factor; ie dev mistake or user ******edness then this is what you get. If you need help...ask, if someone helps you...thank them, if you are too stupid to figure out what you need to do after reading through all the threads and asking for help and having someone walk you through...just get an iphone, VZW will have it out soon. Just think...you too could soon be holding it wrong!
