Root LeeDroid - experience so far

I purchased WidgetLocker a few weeks ago, but I now have Sense 3.0 lock screen and prefer it to the WidgetLocker. But we all have different taste, so maybe i'm the only one who does :D

I wish widget locker would clone the 3.0 lockscreen. I really liked it, although I don't want to switch to a sense rom.

Some ROM's have Sense 3.0 Lockscreen addon, so you only have the 3.0 lockscreen and everything else is Sense 2.1 :)

I like the Cyanogen settings but don't like the theme(s), so I've aded Cyanogen Settings to my LeeDroid ROM :)

What are all the main features of CM7? Never really looked into it

I wish I could get WM7 :(

Had LeeDroid for 2 days and so far here are the problems I've had...

The phone randomly turns off then goes into an endless boot cycle, to resolve that I had to take the battery out to restart.

I also notice quite a lot of lag.

I have v3.2.1
I did update to v3.3.0 but WiFi disconnected every few seconds

Anyone know how to resolve all these issues?

Did you install any of the Sense 3.0 stuff?

There was an issue with the Talkback stuff in 3.2.1, apparantly clearing the data associated with the Talkback app sorts it.

I do have sense 3.0 but I also followed the advice of clearing talkback data and sense data but still getting continuous bootloops every few hours
I have the LeeDroid 3.2.1 ROM with the recommended radio

I suffered a bit of lag with SetCPU installed so I uninstalled and have been fine since.

I've just done a bit of research on SetCPU and it seems a few other people were getting bootloops too, so I guess that was the problem. It didn't make a noticeable difference to me anyway so I'm not loosing out :)

Just got another Bootloop so the problem didn't lie with SetCPU afterall :(

I wish LeeDroid 3.3.0 didn't have the Wifi problem, because updating to that could solve it

I'm now thinking of Cyanogenmod 7, going to do some research on it now :)

Created some Banners for any LeeDroid users to put n their sig

More coming up soon

Let me know if you have any ideas for a banner :)

I have updated to LeeDroid 3.3.1 and continued to get the bootloops. I then realised that the radio I flashed was not the radio currently on my DHD. So I reflashed, hoping that was the root of the problem :)

Excellent, glad you got there. :)

Yeah, other custom ROMs should be fine!

Nah, everything should be cool now, but if you're unsure, post before hand.

When you have a recovery menu, there ain't much that can't be fixed by restoring/reinstalling your firmware. I would keep a recent firmware backup at all times just in case.

The main thing you need to be wary of is knowing what youre flashing. Stick with roms/themes/kernels, making sure they are for this phone, and you still can't do any permanent damage.

Radio flashes are the only thing you'll probably come across that can potentially brick the device. They are very, very easy to do, but you need to read up on it first ;)

Hole in one :)

Flashing the radio was the one thing I was worried to do, but when I read up on how to do it, it was so easy I just went ahead and flashed, it was as easy as falling off a log.

@berocksr

Just to fill you in on what the radio does...
The radio runs the wireless, phone (network), Bluetooth, etc. Newer versions are more likely to improve performance, such as longer lasting battery, etc.

One small mistake whilst flashing, and you could brick your phone so be careful

My experience...
As you can see from my previous posts, I was getting bootloops, but I flashed the latest stable radio and the bootloops haven't returned. I also noticed that the LeeDroid ROM was now much smoother and faster, and I was no longer getting random freezing.
Also, my WiFi improved massively, I could get a WiFi reception in a much wider range than I could beforehand.
The thing i loved the most was my battery lasts so much longer with new radio.

So it does have a great effect on your phone.

Ok mate where can I get the new radio and what's the procedure ?
Also am I ok to delete the ext4wipe.zip and leedriod.zip from my SD card or should I just keep them there in case I want to install other roms and switch beetween the two ?

You can delete the files from your SD Card.

Once you've got LeeDroid setup the way you like it, I recommend taking a backup of it (either from within ROM Manager or clockwork). It's also recommended you take a back up of stuff before you flash a new ROM, just in case the flash goes badly.

I was paranoid about flashing the radio, but truth be told, it wasn't really that difficult. The guide is here.

Use the radio recommended in LeeDroids post and ensure it has the correct checksum before you do anything. If it's corrupt, it could brick your phone. For checking, a decent tool is here.

Flashing a radio is easy, just be sure everything is in place before you do it, read the post and watch the video before you attempt it and post if you have questions.

I definantly have radio s-off and eng-soff don't I ? I'm pretty sure I did otherwise I wouldnt have been able to install leedriod? Yeah but part from that looks easy...
