Root Let's Get CM Onto Avant!

First flash the slim rom (or your stock), then try this method again. If it doesn't work do the following below.

Do me a favor and run a dmesg. I'll take a look at it.

I might have a theory... A lot of files from Samsung that might not have been in the slim rom are now here and that could POSSIBLY cause an issue? IDK.... It's strange.
Remember that he has the galaxy core lte not the avant which is probably why he is having problems that nobody else is having.
After you install you wipe the cache and dalvik, but not data. You're erasing the data that cm11 needs to work.
Actually the data you are referring to isn't generated until you boot into android. I almost always wipe both before and after flashing a rom and it has never once caused a problem for me. As long as you don't wipe system after flashing it isn't a problem.

Well, isn't it ruled out that it isn't because its a core? I was able to flash TWRP, CWM, and the slim rom without hitch, and those were meant for the avant?

I'm restoring the stock, then i'm going to reset that to stock and then flash the CM.

Actually it shouldn't say"starting apps" or "optimizing apps" or "android is upgrading" at all. When you factory reset and do a clean install the only thing you should see while it is starting up is the boot animation. The fact that you are seeing these messages means that you haven't done a factory reset.

I saw on some other posts to use adb pull or something, maybe that would work? But I don't know how to start that.

Was literally about to type this lol
Okay not that command, but I was looking around and some people were having the issue because of permission errors or something? and that there was an adb command that could fix that. If I am speaking giberish please tell me.

I think TWRP has that. In advanced settings. Its called fix permissions.

Well aware, but stock slim worked....

You should start a new thread so when you get the bugs fixed you can let us know and push updates easier. Plus we could have some where to post bug reports after the obvious major ones are fixed.
I'd argue not yet. I had thought about mentioning the same, but I'm not sure for how early it is
