On another Topic I cant really tell, but it seems like my battery goes down faster while idling than with the stock rom, hard to tell, but took it off the charger at 100% like 3 hours ago and its already at 95%, atleast its better than it was before I calibrated it, before I calibrated it went from 100% to like 70% in only a hours time

And I think you're right about the battery drain. The CPU seems to spend a lot of time at 1.2ghz in comparison to stock. However Device Control reports that it also spends time in the deep sleep state, so something seems wrong with the way the clocks are controlled when the phone is active.

Even switching to the conservative governor didn't fix much.

Yeah I read through his posts... They were pretty discouraging. I thought it wasn't going to work at all.

I flashed it through TWRP, just wiping system and performing a factory reset. It took a while but it booted up fine, none of the upgrading/starting apps stuff.

that’s interesting, spec wise they are very similar

I can also say along with my battery lasting less time with this rom, it seems to run quite a bit hotter, not hot enough to really be a problem, but my hands do get quite hot when using it, even for somthing not intensive on the device

Yeah I would usually come home with a respectable 25%, but with this ROM, I had to use it a bit less and came back with 4%. :l

But hey, these increased speeds sure make it snappy!

must be because its using all cores, on stock I always put it on powersaver and restricted performance, with the ability to underclock/over in the future we could get around that

The cores turn off fine, but what I said about the cores being stuck at 1.2 GHz doesn't seem to be true...

It looks like the process of even manually watching the core speeds causes core #1 to speed up. It tends to stay around 1 GHz to 1.2 GHz, occasionally dropping down to somewhere around 600 MHz. :/

So now I have no idea as to why the battery life is worse. BTW I know it says deep sleep is unused, but I didn't turn off my screen in these shots.

hmm, ive just started to make my own kernel using samsung source, first time ever trying such and got almost everthing setup not sure why im getting error 2 on the touchscreen input drivers using make clean && make mrproper but maybe ill get something here in a bit, not that we need one but hey trying to learn lol

Gotta start somewhere and a custom kernal could be a good breakthrough for other kernals for better battery life and such!

I thought we already had one lol, im not making any promises yet though gonna take a bit to figure out why those few things are throwing errors but hopefully something comes out of it

If u want to make a custom kernel use the g386w kernel source it more complete plus on the touchscreen issue make-3.81 is required because make-4.0 and up errors out on the touchscreen Makefile i jave been trying to fix it to compile with make-4.0 but i haven't been able to fix it yet

How's the bug squishing coming? Any progress on the video playback or camera?

The rear camera isn't working because it uses H/W decoding for images which isnt working. Video recording doesn't use H/W decoding which is why that functions. Once hw decoding is supported the camera will work fine lol

I wanted to know something. Why is the board in build.prop the msm8226? I'm sure that the board in our phone is the msm8926.

Does it make any difference?

Good news everyone. I've donated my avant to help further development for this phone so we'll have another developer on board pretty soon. I'm not sure exactly what ROM/ROMs he'll be working on since I left the choice up to him but there's more aosp goodies soon to come.

The board is a msm8226 the only difference is that msm8926 means its lte enabled meanwhile non-lte are plain out msm8226

I thought the Avant was LTE? Or does it just mean that cm doesn't support LTE?

Yeah the Avant and Galaxy Core are both LTE, so they use the msm8926. However it's not different enough to warrant a change in development it seems.

Just upload a ROM that boots and we'll get right on it!

it should work on the avant as well, i hit a snag yesterday after getting around the last problem but gonna keep looking into the issue

It works on both. I was able to run a build with a kernel built off the avant source despite having a Core LTE.

This sounds pretty good. Hopefully we can get help stabilizing this Rom and eventually get lollipop CM12. This phone has so much potential its a joke lol. Cant wait to see what he or she can do for us.
