thanks.

i ripped the icons from the "Elegance" theme found on xda, so there properly called the "Elegance" icons. lol

but yea..i did use better cut to rename/redesign the icons.

How's battery life with these alternative Home programs? I'm using the stock Home instead of Sense on the new 2.1 Android and I'm enjoying the longer battery life. I've tried Open Home and GDE and they seem pretty cool.

I have been using Helix Launcher for a few days now. Definitely no reduction in battery life for me. I have had pretty heavy usage today (lots of email, wifi, etc), and still 70% at 6pm.

This is the first home replacement that I have tried, though. Anyone have input which they think is the best overall (battery life and otherwise)?

Here is my current Eris layout...

I've always been a fan of the sense UI... so I use quite a bit of the hTC widgets

One thing I've noticed while looking at screen shots is that a lot of people have a "D" under their 3G symbol. I can't switch between my seven screens and keep the "D" there. Mine always turns to arrows. I know that means data is being transferred, but mine seems to do it quite often. There's no way I could take 7 screen shots and keep the "D" there that long.

Just an observation.

Well it might have something to do with enabling Always-on Data?
If you don't already have it disabled, it will save you tons on battery life.

Disable it by going into setting> wireless controls> mobile network settings> and uncheck the "always on mobile" setting.
Enjoy, and hope this helps with the problem with your Eris always pulling data. ;)

Hey, what does that do? Does that mean it won't always, say, update facebook/aim/gmail in real time?

Unchecking "always on" will allow your mobile network to shut itself off after your phone's been sleeping for a certain period of time or a time of inactivity. When this happens you won't get Gmail and other data notifications (like Twitter & Facebook). I found this out the hard way because when I first got the Eris, I thought it had a problem - the 3g kept disconnecting. In this case, the 3g symbol disappears completely. It was missing this check mark for always on mobile.

I was just observing, that while my phone's awake, it's rare that it's not transferring data.

Eh... That's almost as bad as turning off your mobile network when you're not going to use that function of the phone. I'll honestly suffer slightly less battery for the ability to get important emails and stuff when they come

Well on the Eris, unchecking that feature is almost necessary for me. Since I rely solely on my phone, I have to make sure I will be able to have enough battery life for about 8-10 hours of the day. With that feature unchecked, I complete that minimum for me easily. For others, battery life may not be as important as constantly-updating services (twitter, facebook, gmail, etc.).

Un-checking that feature is totally up to you, but will dramatically improve your battery life.

Sorry for double posts. Didnt take screen shots of left & right screens as that looks just like the rest. Here is my UPDATED/CURRENT setup.

I know it's been asked before in this thread but does anyone know how to change the people icons ??
I want mine to have the index card instead of the phone so when i tap on it it opens to options instead of making a call.
Anyone ??
