LG G3 Pre-release/Rumor/Speculation Thread

Just curious...does anyone else who watched the event think it strange that they only committed to "Snapdragon"? Just seems kinda odd to me that there's been no official confirmation of that.

Yes, I know we've seen test units with the 801 in them. But we also have the knowledge of varying RAM and storage (hold that thought). Remember way back in the bowels of this thread when I suggested this:

Is it possible that LG is essentially playing the Prime game BUT releasing them in close succession? Or, releasing the Korean model into a known market with another announcement waiting in the wings?

Is that stretching it too far at this point? We are hearing possibly July now.

Or is it just crazy enough to be possible?

u r still hopeful that u might get 805.

Well, for me it does not matter. At all. Decent stills/video+battery life is all I care about. Overall it is my dream phone. It takes care of all the shortcomings I found in my G2. Almost. I would still prefer capacitive buttons, not the onscreen buttons which eat up my screen space.

Perhaps.
No mention of the exact processor in T-MO's official press release:

Here ya go:

Phone Upgrade Anytime | Just Upgrade My Phone | JUMP! | T-Mobile

Similar to VZW's EDGE Program:

Verizon Edge - Verizon Wireless

I'm guessing the EDGE would knock you out of the grandfathered unlimited data.

I'd take the unlimited every time if I had to choose between it or the EDGE Program.

That's how and why I left Sprint. They refused to give me a new phone w/o changing my plan. Which was good, kind of, but still more expensive than my T-Mo plan. And I was with Sprint for 15 years.

50%... I pay 100%. Still worth it, since the data use for two unlimited lines would be way higher. Yikes higher.

I am going to test this out when released before committing. I have a legit concern about battery life and if LG is managing the display to not be a bigger than normal battery hog. I have seen their marketing speel about their display efficency.

This assumes Verizon offers a 3/32. I have seen nothing direct yet from VZW that they will carry that model.

I have pure faith in their greed and blatant disregard for customers that are not their average demographic.

Added:

What is this Jump you speak of? Sounds anti Verizon style.

You have your 14 days return window, even with your evil Verizon, no?

Should be quite enough to make a decision.

But with the removable battery it doesn't matter much anyway. Get a spare or two, you'll be fine. More money, I know.

I'm in the same boat. Have an upgrade available, but they want to switch my plan.

Im fine on the Nexus 5, but that's still really disappointing.

Why is the Talk Time on the G3 rated so low: 6.0h

That's quite a bit lower than the other competing flagships (Note 3, M8, S5). I think even the iPhone 5S is rated higher...

When you have a compact case on your phone the battery is as good as irreplaceable (practically speaking) because a good case will not come off easily (otherwise that means it will pop off when the phone drops which can increase the chances of a cased phone getting damaged). The case I have on my Note 3, I would not want to have to remove 2-3x a day to swap/charge batteries. It would be a Royal PITA.

If the battery life isn't at least as good as a Note 3 then that display goes from being "Ohh Nice!" to "Why bother?" because the difference over a 1080p screen at that size is minimal at best. The Note 3 is 1080p 5.7" and still has significantly higher PPI than an iPhone Retina Screen, for example, and the S5/M8 are even higher.

I also wonder how much battery the camera is going to drain during use (especially when being used as a Camcorder with Continuous Focus Tracking) with the Laser added onto it.

The battery ratings I'm seeing for the device don't look very optimistic, but we may need a few days for those to be updated on Tech Sites.

Ah, I hadn't seen that yet. 2.5 GHz eludes to 801 I'd suppose. Believe the 805 was 2.7. Well anyway, it was only a hairbrained theory.

I just hope we hear something sooner rather than later. I'm afraid if they wait around too long, I might start edging toward the M8 Prime.

Been regularly checking the FCC for the VS895...so far, no love.

You have no right to leave.

we already lost EM.

You started the thread. Be responsible for your actions :D

Here's LG's press release, specifically naming the 801 in the specs, with an* at the very end,for a glimmer of hope for the 805:

LG Newsroom

Key Specifications*:
- Chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon

Don't misunderstand guys, I've just been thru a few of these dealios and I've seen some jaws drop AFTER everyone has been confident they've seen it all. So I'm speculating until the end. I'm totally cool with the current specs if it were to include the 32/3 option for my carrier.

Still excited, not going anywhere at this time. You're stuck with me. :D

Of course the 805 will be a nice huge + but I'm forcing myself to accept the current if we get the new SoC then I can be genuine surprised,

Signed up for Verizon's LG G3 email updates and received this email. While I hope they're being truthful, I'm not holding my breath.

"The device you want is COMING SOON. Get ready to pick up the latest devices before everyone else on America’s largest 4G LTE network."

They could just mean before everyone else on verizon (by preordering), and not everyone else as in every other carrier :dontknow:

The unlimited everything plan I was on for the past several years is no longer available, its either framily or I think its called my all in now. Its looking like its actually cheaper, but my account holder is multiple states away and they must be present at time of upgrade

That would not extrapolate well for general battery life if accurate.
