LG G3 Pre-release/Rumor/Speculation Thread

Here it is, for the world and variations shown for each carrier.

LG G3 full specs

Verizon, T-Mo, AT&T - 3/32

Sprint - either 2/16 or both models, I can't make that out.

Keep your shirts on. :D

Were it not for the Sprint version, I'd have won that danged bet!

BTW - they don't list CDMA frequencies for either Verizon or Sprint, so specs may still be in flux.

:dontknow: Doubt it.

Where did you see that? Am I missing that on the link you provided?

You just made my day EM.

Edit: upon further review, I don't think those specs confirm anything. It's showing variants with known differences. The last phone is the 16GB version, with differences compared to the "main" variant being 2GB vs 3 and 16GB vs 32. Sprint and Verizon variants have no known differences, and T-Mobile and AT&T have only FCC info as known differences.

If you're inquiring about who gets 3/32,T-MOBILE's press release stated as much.
Granted, it's not 100% confirmation, but, I'm gonna go out on a limb & guess it's the only variant T-Mobile will be offering.

Yeah, T-Mobile did confirm, but I don't think the page can be read that VZW differences are the same as tmo, which I think is what EM was doing.

Since we KNOW VZW and Sprint are different from D855 "main" variant, we can only assume differences listed are KNOWN. Unknown/unconfirmed differences aren't listed.

They're tracking each model efficiently to each carrier so they've been in touch with LG.

As I said, specifications subject to change, but so far only the Spirit variant is known to get 2/16, definitely different than the baseline.

Maybe the gray lines aren't showing well on your browser? :dontknow:

I haven't been able to find many actual video samples from the G3 -- so here are a few basic ones https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ffz71YW02lM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EGK0tJ4NzO8 . Quality looks great for being indoors. OIS+ does a great job keeping it stabilized, video is nice and smooth, exposure is appropriate and saturation is good as well, no "focus breathing" to speak of. If anyone has found any others let me know!

Quite pleased so far, I really think this is going to be my next phone barring any surprises in the reviews.

I will respectfully not believe the 3/32 from Verizon unless it is published by them. This would go against their methods.

How do we know sprint gets 2/16? Is there another source that had confirmed this? I'm just saying I don't think this page gives any info at all about which variant the carriers will have. If you look at the variant section prior to clicking the full specs button(previous page) , it shows 5 variants with bold text, with a box underneath showing "differences: 2GB/16GB". Using the logic you are using, that page shows all variants listed get 2/16. But we know that's not true from tmo confirming 3/32.

Ok, I'll go for trilogy.

I saw what that site did. It was the only one I've seen that is making the attempt to not only track the models, with model numbers given, for a baseline model and the US carrier variants.

It's an effective way to do it.

I posted the link. I said it was obviously not done because it didn't even show CDMA details.

I said they were trying to track storage and ram - and given that only Sprint is the only one getting 2/16 so far. No logic is required, if your browser expands the detailed specs correctly when you click the button, the 2/16 is obviously referring to Sprint and is very different from what you see if you don't push the button.

I then said that it's looking like everyone but Sprint is getting 3/32.

And I said - specifications are subject to change.

But I didn't think so.

I also said that I couldn't tell if Sprint was getting two models or just the one.

Now, I don't want to argue about it and I don't think I need to justify that I said first - specifications subject to change.

If your browser is not showing the lines and boxes to delineate the details, I can't help that. Maybe they changed it since I looked.

If anyone wants some other authority to say what's coming, I can't help that either.

If anyone wants to tell me what I got wrong with specs that I said up front were probably subject to change, I can't help that either.

Nor do I need to.

I've decided to not get this model.

I'll be happy to support the forum after it's released if I can.

Enjoy your new LGs, it looks grand. :)

No 805.

As such, I wash my hands of 32-bit and will go to the next level.

S5 and M8 primes be damned! Get it right the first time!

I shall wait till 2015 in order to buy a phone with a 64-bit SoC.

I will give LG first dibbs because I love their design language (rear-mounted controls in particular).

P.S. - The G3 is a sexy beast; too bad LG failed to deliver in the area that matters most to me.

805 wasn't quite ready... Is not lgs fault. and the device is designed to work well with all its hardware. LG makes good hardware specially their own display.

You are absolutely right.

But it is moot in light of the fact that this is a purchase of want, and not need, for me.

And I am willing and able to wait for what I want.
There should not be the slightest lack of excitement or resolve on my part, especially if I am going to pay full retail (which I was planning to do).

Yes, that is the hard battle That potential tech savvy buyers always face. Whenever you purchase a flagship then very soon a new one is at the right corner with spec that top any current spec. Apparently the mobile technology are progressing really fast and it's hard for us to actually keep up with releases. We were supposed to have phones for 1-2 but flagship are coming every 6 month or yearly.

If we don't emphasize too much on the performance importance, the lg g3 surely delivered quite exceptional with its very gorgeous looking body chasis caped with a outstanding 5.5 QHD display. I don't think most oems can't deliver that. And just seeing the reviews of the display and how extremely nice it feels makes me actually consider it and give a chance to its hardware components.

Right now I'm still undecided between getting this phone or wait for its silver edition maybe with its 810 64bit SoC. I don't know..

so..wait.

In 2015 I will sell my G3 and get myself G4. or G5. or whatever they call it w/64 bit:p

If I decide that I need this 64 bit thing. :)

Well many ppl can't afford that unless they have plans like jump.

First of all I do have JUMP.

Secondly, this strategy worked well for me in the past and I don't see why it will not work for me in the future.

It is pretty much like car lease. You can drive brand new car every 3 years or so, if you can afford the constant payments.

Uhm yes I get your point but sadly I'm in the new jump system. So I have to pay 50% of phone. But I was considering doing this with lg g3 as well.

Same here, JUMP has made my hardware habit a bit more affordable.

Yes, it's a lease,pure & simple.
I'm aware that some see it as a scam/ripoff, but, I'd rather do this than going through the hassles of selling to a 3rd party, as there's no guarantees that you'll get enough to cover the balance/cost.
The longer you hold on to a phone, just as w/a car, it's harder to get a decent price.

At least w/the JUMP, you know what the costs are.

Sounds like an expensive habit, changing phones every few months or so, but, I rationalize it by comparing the costs to other hobbies/vices & it's in the ballpark w/such (excessively dining out/tobacco/cable-satellite mega packages/etc....)

50%... I pay 100%. Still worth it, since the data use for two unlimited lines would be way higher. Yikes higher.

I am going to test this out when released before committing. I have a legit concern about battery life and if LG is managing the display to not be a bigger than normal battery hog. I have seen their marketing speel about their display efficency.

This assumes Verizon offers a 3/32. I have seen nothing direct yet from VZW that they will carry that model.

I have pure faith in their greed and blatant disregard for customers that are not their average demographic.

Added:

What is this Jump you speak of? Sounds anti Verizon style.

Here ya go:

Phone Upgrade Anytime | Just Upgrade My Phone | JUMP! | T-Mobile

Similar to VZW's EDGE Program:

Verizon Edge - Verizon Wireless

I'm guessing the EDGE would knock you out of the grandfathered unlimited data.

I'd take the unlimited every time if I had to choose between it or the EDGE Program.

Just curious...does anyone else who watched the event think it strange that they only committed to "Snapdragon"? Just seems kinda odd to me that there's been no official confirmation of that.

Yes, I know we've seen test units with the 801 in them. But we also have the knowledge of varying RAM and storage (hold that thought). Remember way back in the bowels of this thread when I suggested this:

I've been kinda playing the "hopeful" card until now but I'm going to take a step forward and say I think it will absolutely ship with a Snapdragon 805 and here's my reasoning...

There's 2 things at play here. The first is that Samsung supposedly plans to release a 2k resolution phone (purportedly the S5 Prime which it won't end up being called btw, it never is). The second, I believe, is that LG was able to get that done while also being the first to include the SoC and GPU (Adreno 420) that would best fit with that display.

Ace in the hole:

They don't have to release it on May 27. We all recognize that late May is potentially pushing it a little as it pertains to 805 availability. Even with the statement from Qualcomm about first seeing the 805 in May, LG has the option to set a firm release date even as this is typed. If it takes until mid to late June...they still win. I really don't think anyone else is far enough into a release cycle right now to beat them. I think what they've done with this approach is to buy themselves some time, perhaps up to a month, to firm up the availability of the 805 and ensure it makes it into the G3 as the final piece of the puzzle.

Is it possible that LG is essentially playing the Prime game BUT releasing them in close succession? Or, releasing the Korean model into a known market with another announcement waiting in the wings?

Is that stretching it too far at this point? We are hearing possibly July now.

Or is it just crazy enough to be possible?
