LG G3 Pre-release/Rumor/Speculation Thread

Well if that rumor is true then I might add well get the s5 because a qhd on an 801 processor is going to compromise battery life. Oh well.

Fret not.

It takes a toll when we live or die with every rumor.
Joy today, despair tomorrow. Joy - despair - joy - despair - joy - despair - joy...ad infinitum.

That's why we need to hold off on the champagne (if 805) or cyanide
(if 801), until we hear from the only source that matters - LG.

P.S. - If the North American version is the 801, and the international version is the 805, then we can drink champagne...laced with cyanide.

With the enthusiasm shown here we will need a 'G3 watering hole' thread after announce. :)

How do we get a count down timer ( days: X - hours: Y - minutes: Z - G3 Announcement) set up at the top of this subthread? I know polls can be set up, but a timer? :):)

I can't see how battery life would be less on the G3 than the G2? I don't believe LG would release a phone like that. I get all day and then some with 5 hours of screen time.

As for watering holes, wasn't there a statement of no more watering holes?

I don't remember. It doesn't hurt to ask. The mods are caring and put a lot of thought and discussion into things, so either way you win. :)

The thread owner has to do it. IBT... I did it with the GNex thread. If you want to and need help... Just pm me k?

We may end up needing to adjust it too. If the event date doesn't end up being the available date, we could be here for another month or so still. :smokingsomb:

It's all part of the fun.... The lead up. :)

evleaks just posted photos of the gold and white versions of the phone. My vote is for the black version at the moment. What a fine looking phone though!

test.

hmm, it shows up when I add the html code but it doesn't stay when I submit the post (or edit the OP?)

edit: here's the code for the timer:

I haven't tried anything fancy because it tells me html is not permitted. I did try changing fonts in order to use strikethru but that's not allowed either.

Do you have to login as a moderator? (Wild guess is the best I can offer) :confused:

I don't buy the 801 SoC rumored. . I am certain LG will awwee with 805, if it's is almost as if LG want to surprise us.

Pics of the S5 Prime have surfaced, in metal, with a probable 805. I'm guessing an aluminum edge and still using a plastic removable back. Regardless of this phone, Samsung makes nothing I want anymore.

It's a nice looking phone. I'm still hoping to get a G3... but if it doesn't make the cut, the S5 prime might be an option.

Or maybe.........

LG handset, running a Qualcomm MSM8994, to be among first Silver devices. Successor to the Nexus 6 initiative, expected on Sprint in the US.

Snapdragon 810. But this wouldn't be until February.

810
Native 4K Ultra HD support. Combined 64-bit quad core ARM Cortex-A57 CPUs and Cortex-A53 CPUs. Adreno 430 GPU (30% faster performance over the Adreno 420). Support for OpenGL ES 3.1, plus hardware tessellation. The Snapdragon 810 intros high-speed LPDDR4 memory. Frame buffer compression and external 4K display support via HDMI1.4. Supports NFC, Bluetooth 4.1, and USB 3.0.

I have a 4k TV being delivered next week.

I'd be pretty shocked if it didn't. Just hoping all the variants get it and not just the Verizon model. If only for the fact that cases/accessories can be universal and not different by carrier.

Me too. I've loved wireless charging while I have had it on the Note 3 and even though the g3 won't be my primary device, It'd be nice to take advantage of all the wireless chargers that I have.

Plot thickens
Yes it does.

What I'm particularly confused about is the report late last night. A tweet that stated the chip being the 803? Anyone else see this?

Ok don't throw rocks please/ just kidding :-)

The question regarding 801 vs 805 is the cliffhanger for sure.

So assuming the renders recently leaked are accurate in regard to their dimensions, I just did a quick photoshop job with the G2 placed on top of the G3. I sized the G2/G3 so that their diagonals had the right ratio since we know that the G2 has a 5.2 inch screen and G3 has a 5.5 inch screen. I attached the end result...G3 is definitely bigger than G2...

Definitely not accurate, but taking some quick measurements on this photo it would appear that the dimensions will be approximately as follows, with the GS5 and Note 3 as reference as well:

G2--> 138.5 x 70.9 mm (5.45 x 2.79 inches)
G3--> 148.5 x 75.1 mm (5.84 x 2.96 inches)
GS5--> 142 x 72.5 mm (5.59 x 2.85 inches)
GN3--> 151.2 x 79.2 mm (5.95 x 3.12 inches)

So who knows how accurate the leaked renders are dimensionally...but these dimensions could at least be somewhat in the ballpark.

However, if the bezels on the G3 are supposed to be thinner than the G2...the leaked renders to my eye appear at least the same size as the G2 (maybe even a hair larger). So who knows, maybe the renders are not perfectly scaled...
