LG G3 Pre-release/Rumor/Speculation Thread

Not if they want to compete and sell to a broader market like us. I wouldn't buy a 2/16. Not sure what I would get instead, but I still believe we will see 3/32 from ALL the big US carriers. I don't see one getting 3/32 and the others stuck with 2/16. That would be a step backwards. Not sure why they can't start announcing carrier specs though. Probably means that we are in for a bit of a wait.

T-Mobile has, so we have to wait for the others.

(edit - when I wrote this, it made sense - but clearly that was just in my mind - see next post for the point about T-Mobile :D)

The test I did on my G2, when I fully charged it, is played Toy Story on YouTube, full screen, over and over until dead. I had 5hrs screen time.

I always use a trusty anime site for my video soak tests, as I find that youtube can be variable all by its own self.

PS - Kissanime.com, the bottom of the episode pages lets you choose resolution and mp4 or Flash to download. Use with Naked Browser and no default video player, and you can choose what you like. I tend to use MoboPlayer or MX Player, whichever is best from the usual updates. (In other words, sometimes an update hoses an app until the next update, so don't choose a hosed app that you know good devs like them will have fixed soon, just choose your alternate.)

Btw - while free, no piracy involved with that site (videos are hosted on Google and whitelisted for Chromecast), and many episodes in the catalog go to 1080p.

Whether or not you like anime, it's a clean site with a variety of reliable test sources.

If you run an ad blocker and try to play the embedded videos rather than pipe to another player, you're likely to get a video from Google asking you to respect that some programming is ad supported and please support them on that. As much as I complain about everything, I saw no reason to argue with that. And the ads appear outside the video frames on the web pages, not in the video streaming. Pretty fair if you ask me.

Last thing - even at HD, cartoons are not very high bandwidth. You get to exercise your broadband radio and all the other parts without beating up your router or others in the house wanting the network.

Hope this helps anyone wanting to try some video testing. :)

LG G3 Smartphone Phablet | LG G3 Reviews & Tech Specs | T-Mobile

Just noticed the specs for T-Mobile now say 32/3 on the official site. Are they carrying both or is this a new change?

I don't think they ever had 2/16. There was a twit from T-Mo about 3/23 right after the LG Presentation.

T-Mo rules! Go T-Mo!

Not to mention that I didn't pay one single penny to them yet for my 5 lines since I switched from Sprint, thanks to switch promo credit of $700, referral credit of $550 and about two grands from their Blackberry promotion.:D

Embedded your youtubes, MC and Jeyd02.

Edit it to see the trick (you don't have to hit save), others can quote it (and then throw it away and not post). :)

We don't care if you all embed them or not, just did it because I guessed you'd be cool with it. :o

Yep. Thanks. Cool girl on youtube too :D

Really want to compare G3 1080/60p captured video to my dedicated beloved Panasonic x920 1080/60p.

Z Ultra video 1080/30p sucks compared to x920.

4K is pretty useless to me. I am not crazy enough to buy 4K TV yet, just bought 80" Sharp about a year ago. G3 will be the only device in my house which is capable of displaying 4K video :D

I just bought a 4K tv last week :)

3/32 on VZW and I'm in. Not on VZW but on ATT.... I may switch carriers.

Why not T-mo? I am not going to get any referral credits, but AFAIK T-Mo is significantly cheaper, especially for many lines on the account.
..and they give you 1.2GB/month LTE Internet for free until the end of 2014, then $10/mo, on some tablets too..anywhere. It was really nice a few weeks ago to be able to seat near Acropolis and check my email :D

I travel (weekly) all over the US for work and go to the mountains a lot... Unfortunately, T-mo doesn't have a big enough national LTE foot print to suit my needs:(

Also... I'm getting rid of my work Iphone and am going to just use my personal phone. My work will give me $$$ to cover the cost, so the extra cost for VZW's coverage doesn't factor into my carrier decision.

Hey, congrats man! What size? What brand? How many piastros, if you don't mind? What are you going to watch at 4K, except your G3 videos? :D

Sony XBR65X900A 4K/3D

3,709,730 Iraqi Dinar :D

I could buy the Sony Media Player, for now.

But yeah. How about that G3? Gonna be a great phone! Verizon 3/32 fo sho!

Post on a search replaced, I did it for you -

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2664065

XDA Chromecast thread where we got to talking about shipping high res video around the house (bubbleguum is the Plex dev, maybe you've heard of it) with bhiga and Asphyx laying down serious video and camera knowledge (they're literally pros at it).

Maybe all stuff you know but there it is, I think it's a good read.

I just bought a 4K tv last week :)
Congrats to your big ole, early adopting, 3D watching self! :)
