Help LG G4 Terrible Battery Life

I have had my G4 for a week now and I cant believe how good the battery is after 8 hours of moderate use including being connected to my smart watch I still have 56% left. I dont have the Facebook app installed which I believe causes huge problems instead I use the browser to access FB

I have found that using my new Asus wireless' router 5GHz wifi makes my battery drain almost as fast as being in a 3G area.

I know I said I was getting ok battery life after clearing the cache,But it started munching up the battery again.
So I installed Snapdragon Battery Guru and it is giving me better and longer battery life now.
You all that are getting crappy battery life from the G4,I would give battery guru a try.

I'm not annoyed by battery life on the G4, but I'm not ecstatic about it either.

I'm somewhat sceptical of these apps that learn your usage as I work shifts so my usage fluctuates constantly.

Remember its going to take about 3 to 4 days before battery guru will start working.It takes those days to learn your phone habits.

Aye, no harm in giving it a go.

I tried Amplify for a week or so and it didn't make any noticeable difference, but that works differently to Battery Guru by the looks of things.

I find that the phone uses a lot of power when in use, but can actually last a long time when asleep. This is actually a welcome and surprising change considering android has long been the red headed step child when compared to iOS with battery life when suspended.

I've been using a g flex and I think I am just totaly spoiled by its amazing battery life, but I think I can work with the g4. I actually have 2 portable batteries (just as backup, only needed to use it on the super rare times I forgot to charge over night) so I am ready for anything thrown at me. Normal use last a day so only special use situations I will need to use an external.

Ive had my G4 now for nearly a week. Ive come from a Galaxy S3 and am well pleased with every aspect of the phone. While the battery life isn't amazing, it isn't awful either, and having a removable battery was a main vote winner for me. I tried an HTC One M9 for a week at first, beautiful phone, great sound, so pleasant to hold with its metal case, but, the camera lets it down, the colours have a washed out look to them....so tried the G4, and I love it! Camera is brilliant, love the big screen, and, well, everything really!

As mentioned above, Snapdragon BatteryGuru is a good place to start. I find that the screen is about the hungriest screen I've ever encountered. If you turn down the brightness, it can mitigate the power draw.

Ok I've had my G4 for a few months now, and on thing I learned that was slowly eating at my battery life was WiFi scanning. But not just the WiFi being on. If you go to WiFi settings and then to Advanced WiFi in the menu at the top right, you'll see a box checked called "Allow WiFi Scanning." Turn that off. Having it on allows Google and other services to scan for WiFi constantly, and even when WiFi is off it will still search for signals. This really drains both SOT and standby time. Before turning it off, I'd put my phone away before bed without charging and I'd have, say, 82%, and I'd wake up with 74%. After turning it off I'd lose maybe 1 or 2% overnight. Seriously, since I started typing this I lost 1%. Really helpful thing to turn off. Hope it helps.

Read an article recently about hardware problems in early build G4 that could result in continuous boot loops. I had one that was getting poor battery life and eventually did the permanent boot loop thing. If you're getting really bad battery life do a search for that problem and see if your serial number was from that build date.

My LG G4 was ok with battery, but every now and again the phone would go red hot and the battery would die. Once i got the Android 6 Marshmallow update my phone battery life has been brilliant and i've had no over heating issues.

Thank you for mentioning that. I have sworn my phone's wifi comes on randomly when I have it turned off and I bet that's what it was. Attached a picture of the advanced wifi settings to show others where they are.

I also too have battery problems with my G4. When in normal(browsing the web only) use the phones heats up very quickly and battery drains fast. Usually like 1% every 2 minutes. Location is off, sync is off, etc. Could this be a problem with the battery itself? It also has a horribly slow time charging like it seems quickcharging doesn't kick in when i'm low

Update: After downloading the 6.0 Marshmallow update, I found that the battery life took a dip from Lollipop, which shouldn't have happened. If you have battery problems after updating to Marshmallow, I recommend you back up all your data to an SD card and factory reset. Yes, it's a pain to do, but it fixes any problems you might have picked up during the update process.

I did the same factory Reset after the MM update and did notice improvements. I am no expert but have read that on a few sites that after taking a update from L to M or similar it is always a good idea to do a factory reset. FWIW

Did factory reset a couple days after installing android M b/c battery life didn't improve. Now battery life is still mediocre (17hr lifespan per GSam). Screen drains battery 1% every 2 or so minutes even at brightness below 45%. Wifi scanning off.

And for some reason Batteyguru is now "incompatible" though it worked before I did the factory wipe

Battery life is horrendous on this phone. But man its an awesome phone.

I've had mine since Dec 2015 and I'm satisfied with the battery life. I can get through an 8 or 9 hour day easily and then it's only down to 30%, I usually charge no lower than 25%. Here are a few things I've discovered that will drain a battery quicker. Screen brightness, bogus apps such as Clean master, and other apps such as Facebook & the Weather Channel. I keep my brightness at 47%, which is plenty bright. I don't use any battery apps, I just look at the usage in the settings and it tells you what is using the most battery.
My standby is also very good. I've had no complaints, but I'm not a teenager who lives on their phone either. I use CBS sports, Messenger & play a lot of Quiz Up, so no really heavy gaming or video watching etc.

You should boot into Safe Mode, and see if this is still the case.

1. Press and hold the Power button (located on the back) until Phone options is displayed then release.
2. Select and hold Power off until Restart in safe mode is displayed.
3. From the Reboot to safe mode prompt, tap Turn on safe. This restart process may take up to one minute to complete.
