Root LG Optimus M 2.2.1 Rooted!

From what i am reading edodonell, are you saying if i have custom recovery installed and disable signature verification i can upgrade to 2.2.1 and still be rooted ?

Not really but yeah it kinda is. Except whoever wrote that uses some version of LGNPST for ChinaTelecom.

Don't ask me what the differences are between the 2.

Looks like root works with edodonnells update. But update makes phone disconnected from network. Any ideas what can be done to fix it?
 
Must be missing the PRL somehow. You could get it by dialing *228 but without connection to the network it wouldn't work.
 
If you're daring enough, fire up LGNPST if you have it from my other thread.

Go down to where it says "Provision" and select "PRL".

Make sure only "Nam1" is checked.

Download this: http://www.mediafire.com/?9777af3e23xr996

Click the folder icon next to "Nam1" and select 3017.prl which is the file you downloaded.

Click "Start" and it should flash the PRL to your phone. Maybe then you'll have access to the network.
 
Nope, just did MS690ZV4_26-root.BIN, MS690ZV3_36.scr, 3017.prl, still no access...

And yes, I can't dial anything, lol - *228 Problem with activation. Programming Unsuccessful! Please Call Customer Service.

I didn't say to do all of that. Just set "Provision" in LGNPST to "PRL" instead of update.

Then Uncheck "Nam2" but leave "Nam1" checked. Click the folder Icon next to Nam1 and choose 3017.prl, then start. Don't check any other boxes like ERI or anything.
 
And if that doesn't work try using these two files.

3017Nam1.prl: 3017nam1.prl
3017Nam2.prl: 3017nam2.prl

Do the same as above but make sure Nam2 is checked and select "3017Nam1.prl" for Nam1 and "3017Nam2.prl" for "Nam2" then click start. Again this is under the "PRL" only setting in "Provision" not in "Upgrade"

I can't choose Nam2. Is it the same on your side?
 
Ok how about first checking Nam1, unchecking Nam2 and flashing 3017nam1.prl.

Then check Nam2 and uncheck Nam1 and flash 3017nam2.prl.
 
Keep in mind you just want to flash the prl to the phone. I don't know how far up the thread you started reading but you want to make sure "Provision" is set to "PRL" and not "Upgrade".

I just finish it but still the phone wont connect to network. Just use the PRl option under Provision. Thanks for the help

Test 1
- Wrote Provision PRL 3017nam1.prl & 3017nam2.prl to virgin 2.2.1
Result: phone connects to network.

Test 2:
- Provision Upgrade with edodonnels 2.2.1 files
Result: phone disconnected from network
- Wrote Provision PRL 3017nam1.prl
Result: phone disconnected from network
- Wrote Provision PRL 3017nam2.prl
Result: phone disconnected from network

Same results here, not success at all
 
I tried it on my phone again and lost PRL. That didn't happen the first time. Or maybe it did and I somehow got it back before I noticed it was gone.
