Root LG Optimus V boot loop issue

Hey guys, new to the forums, first post.

Anyway, I have a problem. My Virgin Mobile Optimus will not boot up. Let me explain.

This morning, I wake up to my phone (ON THE CHARGER) looping at the LG logo, and turning off. This has happened to me many times before, and what I would normally do is just switch out my battery with my mother's (she has the exact same phone as me), and all would be well. This time, it was different. When I switched out the battery, the phone would still be looping as it was on the charger, only this time it was looping under its own power. One of the things that I noticed is that the battery was very hot, but I think that isn't the issue because when I switched out the batteries, my battery worked just fine on my mother's phone.

Another issue that I've had, and led to this problem, is that while plugged in, the phone would just stop charging randomly (this would happen usually during the night, when I'm asleep).

Now I have tried everything that Google has told me to do. Everything from using the button combo to get into recovery mode, to replacing SD cards, batteries, etc. and nothing has worked.

I have posted this in the Root section because my phone is rooted (since I can't post links, google "how to root LG Optimus V" and look for something by XDA-Developers, thats the method I used). I don't believe the rooting is the issue, because this problem has been happening ever since I got the phone.

If this doesn't get resolved, I will call and see if they could replace my defective phone with a clean one, but will they since I rooted it?

Thanks in advance for your help, and sorry if i posted this in the wrong section.

Before it gets complicated try taking out the battery then holding down the power for 30 second with the battery out then replace the battery and see if that does will let you do anything.

ok, tried that, nothing changed. my friend thinks i shorted it because of the heat, but it wasnt that hot and, if it was shorted, wouldnt it just be completely non responsive?

I don't think so. Try plugging it into your pc and that may shock it out of the loop. If not there may be a chance of getting adb working when connected to your pc

ok, that didnt work, but i was able to boot it into emergency mode when i plugged it into my pc. once it is done installing stuff, what do i do?

not too sure which rom, but i am using thunderc recovery. in my first post i tell you where i got the guide to root, maybe that will help you. and yes i do have the drivers, it just finished.

Go here for LG drivers LG Optimus V Driver Download - LG Cell Phones Blog
Go here for ADB New pre-packaged ADB installation
Go here for tutorial to get a custom ROM installed go here http://androidforums.com/optimus-v-...tory-reset-your-rooted-phone.html#post3263770
You will have to use ADB to install the flash_image and recovery so don't type in su.
Don't worry if your device doesn't show when you type in adb devices. As long as the pc recognizes your phone by finishing the driver install your OK.

In command prompt type in:
cd..
cd..
cd SDK/platform-tools
adb shell
Hit the enter key after each line
If you get a # after you type in adb shell, continue with the code. Just don't type in the su at the start of the code in the link.

Hey benslgdroid. Eyeballs won't stay open. Sleep is here.
Everything is there. But just in case here is this [FIX]Black screen with custom recovery and custom roms - Page 15 - Android Forums at AndroidCentral.com

Ninja'd lol

Get the custom recovery and rom and put them on your sd card if you can't access it you'll need to use a card reader.
So get your drivers and adb set up, type those commands he posted. Let me know if you do or dont see a #

ok, new problem, every time i type in adb shell, it says "error: device not found", and what code am i supposed to continue with after that? i still have it in emergency mode btw

nothing. when i first installed the adb, it recognized it, but after that, nothing. my computer sees it though, just not the adb shell

This wont work in emergency mode,or recovery mode.
It's got to be done with the phone turned on from power off state. Doesn't matter if it's looping.
To thedoode365: when you first established ADB where you able to give your phone commands?
If yes, what is the path to your adb.exe?
If no, delete everything having to do with the adb. That's SDK and the drivers and the whole shooten match. Then use the ADB installer I linked you to.

when i first rooted it, yes. the path to my first adb.exe (from superoneclick) is C:>program files> LG Electronics> LG United Mobile Driver. i have already installed the adb installer you linked to and it is C:>SDK>platform-tools.

now i tried to type in the code you gave me and it says:
*daemon not runnning. starting it now on port 5037*
*daemon started successfully*
error:device not found

i did this when when it was looping instead of emergency mode
