Root LG Optimus V Bricked?

Okay, so i just factory reseted my Optimus v and now it stays in the LG boot screen. Iv tried many tutorials but none work. Why? Because my phone wont enter recovery mode and wont enter emergency mode. They both just go into black screens. I did recently did flash the phone with clockworkmod before it was bricked by choosing a device that wasnt mine. So i flashed it with a rom that wasnt for my device. So now i cant enter recovery mode. Any tutorials? Iv had my phone for about 1 to 2 months. Should i just call technical support and ask for there help, and see if they can send me packaging label for the device so i can send it in so they could fix it or replace it? Please help.

I am not even going to ask the reason you flashed a rom that was not for your device.
You voided your warranty when you rooted and flashed a rom so Virgin is not going to help you.
The answer to fixing your phone lies in the search box on this very forum.

if you are going to mod your phone you need to learn to undo your mistakes.

I had a similar problem. I called VM CS and they are shipping me a new phone, and i turn in the old one, you should try that out.
Good luck!

why should anyone who roots, modified, or otherwise bricks their phone expect a retailer or Virgin Mobile to be obligate to replace the phone.
I take it one would understand the consequences of what might happen. if you took the risk, and screwed your phone up, buy another one.

It's the same thing in the oveclocking forums. I can't tell you how many times I've seen someone RMA a chip or mobo because they screwed it up overclocking it. All this does is raise the prices for everyone.

Take some responsibility for your actions people. Your phone was fine when you bought it, and your terms of service and user agreements tell you that you void your warranty when you modify the software or firmware on your phone.

just a general question. If you pay the $5 monthly insurance and you brick your phone, technically couldn't you just chuck the phone against the wall and then soak it in water and then put in a claim and pay the $65 deductible?

not in any way saying that's a noble thing to do, lol!

i think that boils down to what's "ETHICAL"......

I really don't see how someone can expect to flash a clockworkmod and rom not for their phone and expect it to not screw things p

O.K. you seem to be all over the place looking to update your firmware. Why? Did you mess up your phone? Give us more info to go on so we can Help you with your problem. First, we have to know what your problem is. It would be like asking a car mechanic over the phone how to fix your car and not telling him whats really wrong with the car. Can't help fix it unless you tell us whats wrong and what if anything you may have done to your phone. The more info the better, for YOU.

Do you have a PC? Did you establish ADB in your system path? Did you install the LG drivers for the "V"? If yes to all the preceding questions, does your PC still recognize your phone?

i have a lg optimous and i rooted it and had clockworkmod on it then i ent to do the factor reset last night and it froze up it will not go past the lg logo... i have tried to hard reset volume down+home+power and it will just go to a black screen it WILL NOT go into recovery mode what so ever it is just froze.. it also does not go to the logo unless it is plugged in i have tried many solutions, PLEASE HELP!!

Do you have ADB established in the system path on your PC? Do you have the LG drivers installed for the "V"? If so will your computer recognize your phone when you type in adb devices from a command prompt, once your in the folder where your adb.exe is located?

Do you understand anything I asked, or do we need to walk you through it all?
It's no problem either way.

lol i didnt really get that... i have adb installed and everything but i havnt really got that far with this stuff. it confuses me.. the computer recognizes my phone and i look in the control panel then system them hardware and then devises and it shows a little hone and it says lg mobile phone then there is another one that says lg modem and there is another that says lg serial

i have to press the power button volume down and the back arrow key then plug it into my computer to get it to go into emergency mode then the computer picks it up... the first time i did it i downloaded the drivers and it said installing drivers thats how i got the modem, serial and lg mobile phone

I'm going to let Andy help you with the steps (he's better at it than I am) but I can explain some of what's going on. The recovery you flashed doesn't know how to use your screen properly, LG made our phones with two different screens, each requires a different driver. Andy will help you correct that. The reason you see multiple entries in device manager is because your phone can do many things when connected to a computer. To get you fixed up, Andy will have you typing cryptic commands on your computer. The serial device your phone shows as is actually the way your PC will talk to your phone. Since your screen won't work right until the recovery is fixed, we need the PC to communicate with the phone. Make sense?

i dont think i have adb.exe i got plain adb
Same thing, by default Windows doesn't show the file extension (the three letters after the dot) for files it knows how to use. It typically only show that if you've told it to (like I do) or if it doesn't know what the file is. I don't like my machine hiding things from me, I'm the one with parallel thought and opposable thumbs, I should be in charge! But that's just me. :D
