My B version rom is based on the 2.3.4 Android version, but take a a look at the updates since then:
It looks like it's worth looking into to see what version of android the C and D updates are, or compiling a kernel somehow based on those newer versions of android to reap some benefit.

looking at the B and C kernel src there were only a few code patches added to the C's src.
