Root Liquid 3.0 Final Link Up

Alright so, JD with incredicontrol seems good to go so far. I'm gonna give it somemore time, and I really wanted to try smartass V2, but that'll come soon enough.
 
Nightly went back to eclipse. I flashed Tiamat over, but it should help those boot looping. Jd said no go on V2 yet. He'll get it soon enough.

are you guys that have trouble with tiamat always OCing it? ive never had prollems,but im pretty boring with kernels,and dont OC or UV :o
 
I pretty much always do a 1.4 overclock. It works fine with DRod and all the Imo derivatives, so even if that is the issue, it is a tiamat issue. Imo has sort of made 1.4 the standard overclock since it was built in to speedtweak. When people post their voltages, they almost always go up to 1.4 so I know others do it quite a bit.
 
Whether or not you agree with his interpretation of the GPL is not for me to discuss here. Your opinions are yours and not mine to judge. However, in order to get his nightlies, and they do seem to be coming almost nightly, he requests a small donation to his efforts of sending out the notices and perhaps the hosting. I know someone who got them with $1 although .. well i'll just leave it at that. I implored him to put out an older version perhaps once / week for those that just can't afford it but I've not heard back from him about that. I do know he's doing this full time since he got laid off from his job.

Anyway, back to brizey OC comment. I always OC just because I can. I used to go to 1.4 but it didn't give me any noticeable benefits and my batt took a hit. So I went down to 1.2 which seems to be a sweet spot for my phone along with Tiamat 1.1.3. This rom though is super fast and I've dropped my OC down to 1.15 without any drop in quickness and perhaps it's even snappier. But as always YMMV.

The GPL is pretty clear in this regard.

His ROMs are not copyrighted (they can't be...see above statement), so there is no legal or ethical reason not to repost his ROMs. Saying "please don't repost" does not cut it.

I don't blame him for trying to make some money doing this. If you look at his website you can see that he sells liquid branded trinkets, etc, so obviously he is trying to turn this into a business. He is also one of the few devs I have seen actually actively ask for donations (I follow him on twitter). What they do takes a lot of work, and it is not really free (occupies a lot of time on a workstation, etc.). So again, I see the motivation. But that does not mean that he is free to flout the GPL. He really needs to find a way to do it properly.

I really like his ROMs and will continue to use them, but I will not participate in his donation program as it is set up right now. I would be more willing to donate if there were no strings attached.

I don't OC for UI snappiness...I play a few resource intensive games and I think it does make a bit of difference there. I agree--I don't think you need to OC much for UI smoothness.

This is exactly how I feel. I like his ROMs, but I don't think that I should have to give him money to use it. The money itself isn't the issue, I'm sure $5 would get me the nightlies. It's the principle.

Yeah, I used to 1.4 for the Angry ones but I haven't had an update in a while. Forgot about that. I'll have to see how the rom performs when I get a new level. I actually had a setcpu profile which OC 1.4 when plugged in to power and 1.22 with USB. Then Worm said to trash setcpu and now I just do it through the control panels. ;)

Totally agree, that's why I put it like that. Too good of friends to have a public discussion that might put some of us at odds. Simply not needed. Nonetheless, a little birdy told me that 3.0 will be publicly released on Friday.
 
So, why doesn't Imoseyon's .8 (or any of his kernels) load on this? I can't even get the newest ROM to load after flashing .8

edit: might not be the kernel, can't get the ROM to boot at all. Oh well, guess I'll wait for the "public release"

The rom is failing the DRM check :p
 
Digital Rights Management, it is used on digital property to verify the user has paid for the right to use the program. Many android apps in both the market and amazon appstore use it, it has also been used in other forms of media.
 
I heard it applied to music way back when, but never a rom. Why would mine boot and not Worms or yours? How do you check drm?
 
I was joking guys, I don't think he would be able to protect a rom with DRM if he could then he needs to be working at google or an OEM not making roms for a few phones.

I had that problem with Drod's kernel so I just went back to Tiamat 1.1.3.
 
I wasn't trying to get you guys, was trying for LOLs, but I got LOLs out of it.

I am looking forward to the final release, hope it actually comes on Friday.
 
Yeah me too. I'm not sure what's left to do but it will be nice to have a good thread going on it. I have my work cut out for me tomorrow. I'm getting a refurb and need to root and then unroot. I liked the old way of rooting but we'll see.
 
Make sure to mess around with the refirb a lot before you unroot/root make sure the phone works as well as your other one or send it back for a different refirb. I think you have read the refirb hell threads in the non-root area.
 
I am getting occasional lag-of-death.

Not sure if it is an app or the ROM or the kernel. Doubt its the kernel since I am using 3.5.8.

I even had the hot-restart script hang today.

I hope it is not an app. The ROM will get refreshed on Friday. Finding a bad app sucks.

Lag of death?

I have had issues with the screen timing out and then not wanting to come back on. You may want to check to see if compcache is enabled if the lag you are getting seems to be the rom gets laggier the more you use the phone. I think there would be something under performance in liquid's settings for compcache.
 
I think I found it. Live wallpaper. I fought through the lag and changed to static wallpaper and it went away.
