long lines at verizon?

I'm on one of these "lists" too and no, I think if they had a customer in the store they would sell them the one they supposedly holding for me. So I will have to get there early! Really, I think the 'lists' are like a dibs list for the employees there so they get commission!

thats what im thinking.. im about 30 in one list.. and in another I asked what number would i be and they said 40...so I said no thx dont put me on the list. hahaha.

regardless ill be there early. how early who knows.. what do u ppl recommend? as ive stated before i wouldnt be tripping out but my bb is literally on tape..

I was thinking about 20-30 minutes early. But now I think I'll get there like an hour early and just sit in the car on my laptop. If I see other people, I'll get out and stand by the door!

Hmm... seems like this will have a big launch. I think actually bigger than the Incredible around my area at least. I called my 3 closest Verizon stores (the only 3 in my vicinity) and one had about 30 on the list, another had 50, and the last had about 30 also. If you're having trouble with Verizon, then I would recommend trying Best Buy. I called my nearest Best Buy and I was put #10 on their list and the guy told me that they are for sure getting at least that many phones in.

im thinking ppl that are getting them to hold or put you on a list...must be non corp. stores....cause my 3 wont do anthing

If I see you getting out of your car, I'll just pull out my gun (don't really own one) and tell you to slowly back away from the door and no one will get hurt. :p

i still think verizon is hyping it up more then what it will be. Don't get me wrong im sure they have alot of people who want the phone but they are trying to make it seem like an iphone launch which its not going to be

Well I haven't heard any news from Verizon about it going to be an iPhone-like launch... unless the CSRs lied to me about how many people are on the list.

Yeah well saying there is going to be long lines makes it seem like they expect it to be iphone like, which its not going to be. With all of the people who upgraded to the inc not everyone of them is going to want to pay full retail some people( i know a few) actually love the inc and wouldnt wanna get the x

so ive gone from 30min to 1hr early.. haha...I wonder what kind of time the "non android forums ppl" are thinking of getting to a store..

I live in a medium size town in the Midwest (actually one of the largest cities in the state) and we have 2 corp stores, 15 authorized retailers (w/in 25 miles) and a Best Buy. When I called on the 9th, Best Buy wouldn't take any preorders for the 15th b/c they had already pre-sold their allotment. The smaller corporate could put me on a list and promised to call me the day before to confirm I wanted the phone (and I assume to arrange a time). He didn't know if anything about any special events or hours, but said it probably was too early.

Now I just need to figure out if I want to order online or go in the store. I'll buy online if my rebate is going to be a prepaid CC.

I think most of them wont even go to the store early. I know for the inc launch the store around me opened at 7 and i got there around like 710 and nobody was in the store but i guess after that they sold out later in the day so maybe i just got lucky.. Ill be there early for the X to make sure i can get one and have all day to play with it since im off work that day

Well, that seals it! I'm putting my tent in its stuff sack and airing out my sleeping bag. Looks like a long night of asphalt-camping. Can't wait... ;)

I have a plane to catch to San Fran at 11:20 a.m and the closest Verizon opens at 8:00, so I plan on being there at mcdonalds across the street at 5:45 and in front of the line by 6:00 with my laptop. Hope there is wifi somewhere close by...

In terms of commercials, there has been basically nothing for the X. The "Rule the Air" is not an X commercial. I know the 4.3" screen will turn away people as well as the Incredible taking away a large chunk of buyers who would have otherwise gone for the X.

Over here in CT there have been a ton of teaser commercials for the X. The one with the eyeball turning Droid-like. It seems like every time I turn around I hear that mechanical "Droid" sound on TV.

The poor Incredible isn't taking a large chunk of buyers away because THEY CAN'T GET ANY STOCK. In fact, the lack of any available inventory for the Incredible will probably create more Droid X buyers.

That's already happening.:)

Hehe, well bless my poor little Motorola stock. Between the iphone 4 antenna issues and the HTC AMOLED shortages on top of the excellent X reviews, this may be MOT's time in the sun. :D

And despite all the advances in Android phones in such a short amount of time, I'm still ecstatic with my original Droid. I never ever thought I could love a cell phone, but I've turned into an unabashed Droidexual.

I called 4 verizon stores today within 15 minutes of me. Each store told me they didnt have lists or anything but the wouldnt tell me if people have been asking about the phone. This is gonna be my first android phone, im switching from the EnV touch which i absolutley hate so thursday cannot come soon enough. ive never really been excited about a phone but as soon as i saw the X ive been going crazy waiting for the 15th lol. im number 15 on the list at my local best buy and they told me i would definitley get one because they are getting 19 X's but im still sort nervous to not get one on thursday if they dont get enough.

i would feel so awkward if i went an hour early and waited in front of the door and when they open the doors, i'm the only one standing there. I would definitely be embarrassed, but that is a risk i am willing to take.

Wait in the car unless you see other people:)

haha i feel the same way.. im debating wether or not i should go early.. one of the stores told me they would without a doubt have enough for anyone that wanted one on launch day.. another told me they would be getting between 10 and 12 but not getting them until around noon on thursday and another store said they have no idea if they are even getting them lol.. im #15 on the list at best buy and they said they are getting 19 so they told me im definitley getting one on thursday.. i just hope i dont have to wait until late afternoon for my appt. at best buy.
