What screen and drivers do you have, Novatek or Hitachi? What ClockWorkMod recovery version did you use? How did you install it?
Note: If you have a newer Optimus V purchased after November 2011 with 2.2.2 OS originally installed then you have the Hitachi screen and drivers for sure.
If you installed the recovery from ROM Manager that recovery version is incompatible with the Hitachi screen and drivers.
Go to the All Things Root Guide sticky and download the BobZohme modified CWMod recovery (VM670NH_recovery.img).
Using a file manager move it from the Download folder to the root of the sd card making sure that it has a .img on the end.
For ease of install rename it recovery.img (this is important).
Go to the Play Store and download a terminal emulator. Open it up and type in: su (then hit the enter key)
Superuser will prompt you to allow or deny. Allow, then go back to the menu and select toggle soft keyboard.
Now type in this:
flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img (hit the enter key)
You should now get a stream of almost identical looking code. When done there should be a # at the end.
If you did not get any errors then type in this:
reboot recovery (hit the enter key)
It will now boot into your recovery menu.
Note: If you got any errors in the code then do not type in the last line of the code. Recheck what you typed in and try again. The code is case sensitive, you must make sure everything is typed in exactly as ^ making sure the spaces are in the proper place as well.
(hit the enter key) do not type this in, just hit the enter key.
