low hung pants

I saw a guy at the grocery store with extreme low hung pants. He was wearing a football jersey that covered his butt, but the pants were basically at the ankles, and he was basically waddling around. He had his wife and baby with him.

It was a pretty sad sight. I feel sorry for the baby, it has no choice as to the loser dad to be born to.

I have to admit that I do not understand the fad either. I'm fairly certain not many gave me much of a chance to be a good father with my tattered bell bottoms and tie dye t-shirt and hair down to my waist. Wait.. they were right lol. JK. Fads are fads.
Those on the outside looking in aren't supposed to get it so I think we are ok.

Famous proverb..."Clothes do not make the man."

IMO never judge a person by their clothing. One could be the smartest dressed person in the world, and still be a complete douchebag.

Low hung pants are only a trivial fashion trend, it will soon pass.

You should hear them talk and then you will say the clothes match the man.
low hung pants has been aound since the late 80's I do believe.

I remember saw a guy crossing the street with his pants under his ass. He then decided to run across. Pants fell to his ankles and he tumbled across the street.

Sagging is stupid and I hate it. Whenever I see a kid sagging, I want to run up to them and shake them silly. It looks so unprofessional and the first perception people draw is hoodlum.

A lot of these youngsters don't even know that it started it prison and signified to others that you were gay and available. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to associate being gay as a negative terminology. I'm just saying that these kids don't understand the history behind it and how it became mainstream.

Again, I have nothing against alternative lifestyles so please don't come at me with that nonsense. Hell I'm a black man living in the South so I damn sure know what it feels like to be unfairly discriminated against.

Interesting history of that fad. Wow.

But, you know, I am thinking back (waaayyy back, I'm old :D) to when we were teenagers and took on a few such fads that seemed rebellious to us (and that was the best part: shocking adults), things such the shirt collar up, long sideburns, a "d.a." hairdo, horseshoe taps on the heels of our shoes or boots, and of course, our music ("turn off that primitive noise!").

I'm thinking that most of that, including the music, had its beginnings in "bad" neighborhoods and jails, picked up by James Dean and Elvis. ;)

I get what your saying. They should know what the meaning is before taking up the fad. Talk about a rude awakening if they ever go to prison

just like rolling up one pants leg ment you was in a certain gang.

I hate the fad, too, but consider the last sentence of your first paragraph - "He had his wife and baby with him." The family is in the grocery store together - a dad who is not only supporting his baby but also a part of the family. I'd say the kid has a better shot than many.

Funny story about the pants - I saw a young person wearing pants this way and holding them up to walk down the street. Someone in the car in front of me rolled down the window and threw another pair of jeans at the person - I wonder what they actually said :), BTW, it's not only guys who wear their pants this way now.

I'm sorry, am I missing something about how this pertains to Android smartphones?

Yes, you may have missed, from the top of the page, as davidnmegan mentioned:

"The Lounge We're all friends here. Hang out, kick your feet up and talk about whatever the heck you want!" ;)

Well I have to say it's a horrible fashion :/ I don't even think those guys know that wearing the pants that low makes them not only look short...but also stumpy and if it's low enough, they waddle when the walk. As a female it's a BIG BLOODY TURN OFF!!!

And this is how rumors spread and others adopt. That is not true at all. It was because of poor-fitting prison wear. Many prisoners were issued sizes that were too large and with the combination of lack of belts (for prevention of suicide), sagging developed. It was spread to mainstream with the popularity it had with Hip Hop artists.

It has NOTHING to do with gay people "advertising" themselves in prison. No gay man in prison would advertise himself for sex in prison and it isn't done today. It supports the notion that gay men don't get raped in prison because they like it anyways, which have led to abuse of gays in prison.

Really amusing to see how easily the rumor spread within just this one thread without any o.O? I thought it sounded absurd.

Wow again.

Thank you for that, Vihzel. That seems to really hit the nail on the head and has a huge ring of truth to it.

No problem. I knew that there was something majorly wrong. I've read so many articles of injustice of LGBT in prisons that this rumor supports the complete opposite. I've never heard of gays wanting to let the entire prison population know that they're available, especially when they're an easy target for physical assaults (since gays are perceived as weak, feminine, and passive) and that homophobia is the norm in prisons, even by some prison officials.

There's been cases of nothing done for gay victims of sexual assault because of homophobic prison officials viewing it as "consensual", whether or not the victim eventually submitted to the aggressor or it was violent, forcible rape.

You and I are in exact agreement. Awesome

I dunno...maybe its Just because I'm younger but I don't see the big deal. Its something some people do and it doesn't have any effect on anyone but themselves...so why stop it? Because its unprofessional? Well last time I was professional I was at work or a job interview...and in that case I agree...it shouldn't be allowed. But for simply walking around in public...that's casual and personally I don't care. I don't do it but I don't see the harm. Personally I hate it when people judge like that. I have long hair and I'm skinny. Some people assume I'm a no good, skater punk because of it...but if they actually got to know me, I could prove to them that I'm VERY intelligent and far from the "stereotypical" long haired hooligan. And I hate it when people judge because I like my hair a certain style. Just like I hate when people judge based on clothing.

IDK, been that way since I was in middle school, which was about 15 years ago...

I completely agree with you. If you judge a person on how they look, YOU are the bad person in my book. That said, there is the saying "you can't make a first impression twice". I will admit, that if I were interviewing a person and they walked in dressed like that, I would be taken aback (even though by my own definition I shouldn't be).

I also never understood why people are so offended by seeing underwear (boxers specifically). They are covering up anything you REALLY wouldn't want to see. Why are boxers such an innately bad thing to have showing?

just like rolling up one pants leg ment you was in a certain gang.

Is that why I get shot at when I roll my right pantleg up riding my bike so the chain doesn't catch?

Doesn't hurt anyone but themselves? Yeah, I guess if they have a shirt low enough, it doesn't. But around here, a lot of them DON'T wear boxers or anything else under the pants-they-aren't-wearing. It's apparently become a trend for some of the women to wear sweat pants this way, with nothing under them. I don't want to see that, and if I had kids, I certainly wouldn't want them to see it.

It's also not very practical. I kinda have to laugh when I see someone running for the bus, trying to tug their pants up so they don't fall. :D

Oh that's disgusting!!! >_< I hate when I see people's ass crack but if I have to see the ass itself jiggling down the street...man I'd puke :/ If you MUST go commando...at least be covered up or look like you're cover!

true.... dont judge... it is not cool to make snap judgment based on someone's looks. I hate it when it happens to me...

but.. but.... stereo types are based on something... there are some evidence to collaborate the image.

of the people that have saggy pants (below the ass), talking to them... confirms my believe... "they are in need of more edumakashion".

it further makes less sense to me...
if they are in the gang lifestyle... and have to run from the pigs and rival gangs... this would be part of the Darwin's theory of evolution for gangs. The slow will be weeded out.

+1

Where I went to HS the sagging was pretty much 85% of the males and some females even... Never really understood it too much. Some jean designers actually make pants intended to be worn like this too..
