Help "Low on space" phone/application storage notification

I can but I can't. Other more important bills are in the way of letting me get that right now, if you know what I mean.

But yes I was getting low on space type of thing. It was to the point that I had 0.00GB left of space on my SD card. That's why I was wondering if apps can go on the internal phone storage rather than all go on my SD card.

Driving me nuts! lol I have all this space on the internal phone storage that hardly gets used up, and can't put or figure out how to get apps to save to my internal phone storage.

Looks like you gave plenty of "phone memory" (app storage space on the phone). Should just be able to go into your application manager and move apps to the phone memory (different than internal storage).

You can also use a titanium backup filter to show you all the apps on your sd card and move then to the phone memory.

Okay, you've just completely lost me. lol

I don't know anymore.

Menu>settings>applications>manage applications>on sd card tab

every app listed there just hit the 'move to phone' button

I'm not trying to be a pain or anything. Now I just did that to basically all the games, like 5 games that were able to move to the phone. Where did the games go exactly? Like are they moving to the phone memory or are they being moved to the internal phone storage? I guess I'm lost with that part.

Thanks for trying to help me understand this.

They are being moved to Internal program storage, freeing up space on your SD card.

To me it just seems like it would make sense to have apps take up some of the phone's internal storage... like for those who do not have music, movies, and a whole lot of pictures on their phone. If that makes sense.

that does make sense, but I believe htc was trying to err on the side of caution and keep apps from being intermingled with other media. 750 mb is plenty of room for most people for apps. I don't keep any apps on my sd card. On the other hand, the 150mb allocated for the app' data is not nearly big enough (hence the creation of this thread)

I had the same problem but my wife phone wasn't doing it. We both have the dinc. When I deleted thetandroid app killer it stop showing up hoping it wwork for u guys

helped someone out in the verizon store w/ this problem. the tech was 1 click away from hard resetting the phone when i told them that if you delete all your texts (dialer storage) and clear your facebook data, it would get the message to go away for a little bit. PHEW. the girl was VERY relieved and i think the tech learned something today!

I read through a few pages but couldn't find anything like this issue so here goes. I suppose I should preface this by saying its not my Incredible but my friends (Mine is running issue free!!)

Anyway, he was getting the same error message as everyone else. But its only on apps that he paid for. He can update apps, download free apps, but when he pays for one it won't allow the install. Any ideas?

I have 71 Apps Downloaded - Had more but uninstalled alot due to the "low on space" message.

SD Card
Total Space - 7.40GB
Available Space 1.76GB

Internal Phone Storage
Total Space - 6.60GB
Available Space - 6.58GB

Phone Memory
Total Space - 748MB
Available Space - 574MB

I think Facebook is the culprit but I'm not sure. It has 54.43MB of Data.

Can someone help please. Thanks.

Yes, that is the problem. I'd clear data in the facebook app. That should resolve the problem (although in the process delete every piece of data facebook stored on your phone. You will have to sign in again.). You might also want to set facebook to not synchronize the contacts. Read the first post as well as any random page in this thread for an explanation of the problem.

This is a long thread so I was not able to go through it all. I searched for my answer but nothing came up.

I am having a low on space issue. Have been for quite some time. When it occurs I go in and close down apps, sometimes a ton before the notification goes away. I was always closing bloatware so I rooted and removed all those apps that I was always closing.

Lo and behold, still having the issue and after reading it seems that bloatware is not the issue. My question is whether a new ROM will make this go away?

thanks in advance

there's some kind of rooted app you can use that monitors space in the /data/data (?) partition... it might even be called monitor space, or something like that. anyways, you can use this to at least look at the amount of data storage that the 150mb is taken up and delete the bigger culprits.

forget what the name is, though. it's on here, somewhere.

the problem has nothing to do with how many apps are running. You need to clear the cache/data from the apps you have installed. Some apps over time eventually fill up the 150mb partition where their data is stored. "NG cache cleaner" can automate the process for you.

The app "not enough space" may help also.

Sometime you have to do a LOT of reading to get the job done!
Here's what I eventually read and did to find a total solution.
1. Root it.
2. Get 1TapCleaner, NotEnoughSpace, RootExplorer, & Advanced SD Card Manager.
3. Run 1Tap and clean out the CACHE. Do this weekly.
4. Run Adv. mgr and move all the programs to the SD card.
5. Run RootExplorer and look at /data/data. Keep it above 20MB or so.
6. Run NES, installing it very carefully. What you land up doesn't look exactly like what the instructions says you get - but the author explained it to me (complicated).
7. Run 1Tap and find out which programs are the largest.
8. Run NES and move the big ones to the NES partition.
9. Run RE check data/data and you will see it grow!
10. If you get MyBackupPro you can now backup the apps + data, a feature of being rooted.
11. Periodically kill the DATA for the caller ID program. It keeps growing. I don't use that program.
12. No need to close out programs 'running in the background'
and finally,
13. If this doesn't work for you, it's not my fault. It works great for me. AND if anyone has any changes/improvements to this 'to do' list, feel free to help!

Without the forums, there is no need for the Droid! (due to its quirks & design flaws)

ok ok look I have no Idea what or how computers work, but, after reading this entire thread, I have determined that its not neccissarly space (because my taskmanager says I have plenty of room) but the data/cache that apps are using and somehow I have to find it and deleate it so I can continue to install apps?

Because I dont even have 70 apps and I am getting this message and its killing me, new first time android user on the infse, so how do I go about deleating all this data?

I could have missed something in the forum but could someone point me to a step by step process to deleating all this excess data?

Edit: I just went into settings=>manage apps and found that media hub and facebook were using over 80mb of data!

now, will clearing data/cache from all these apps clear all my stuff like saved characters on my games, emails, contacts etc?

Also, what if I download a bunch of apps that then take up all that data space I just cleared, will I be able to launch my facebook app again?

sorry for the noobness, please speak dumb with your answers :)

Clearing cache is harmless, worst case there might be some lag when you start the app or while it's running. Clearing data means you'll lose all the data stored on the device. I would DEFINITELY clear data from facebook, since it shouldn't be using that much data, and you SHOULD just be able to sign in again and it should all work fine.
Clearing data from a game would erase all your progress, that sort of thing.

well I tried deleating all cache and alot of the apps data, even linked it with my pc and deleated alot of stuff, uninstalled alot of apps, basically tried everything under the sun and still I am getting that message when I try to install something from the market.

so, I should probably wait for 2.3 to become availible for the infuse, see if that fixes it and if it don't then its time for a factory reset correct?

This all is very frustrating, brand new android and its already glitching out.
